Head of HR - Remote/London

Remote with London Office

I am looking for a head of HR to work for a well-established leisure brand who run 60 leisure facilities throughout England generating a combined income of around £50m with a team of 2000 staff. You will be a key member of the senior management team and will be supported by a team of 8 colleagues including an HRBP, a recruitment manager, and HR generalist and a learning and development team. The position is perfectly suited to a candidate looking for a remote role, the senior management team will meet in London so you would be required to travel as and when required as well as being able to use any of the centres nationwide. The role is ideally suited to an experienced CIPD qualified HR Manager looking to step up into their first Head of HR position or an existing Head of HR looking for a fresh challenge.

As with many leisure businesses, coming out of COVID has presented many challenges in terms of reestablishing and repositioning the business whilst also presenting significant opportunities to impact and effect positive change.  Key responsibilities will include:

  • To lead an integrated HR service that delivers business goals through engaging people‐focused policies and best in class practices.
  • Focus on proactive recruitment, ongoing training development and people development plans.
  • Develop and implement the annual HR business plan, ensuring that initiatives support the achievement of the wider business strategic aims.
  • Manage and support the successful delivery of major business projects, including restructuring work and new contract mobilisations / terminations.
  • Ensure teams are supported, informed, and advised on relevant areas of legislation, case law, employee relations etc.
  • Ensure employee relations caseload is managed in accordance with best practice and defined timescales.
  • Recommend changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention
  • Ensure HR metrics delivered to the company in various HR reporting are regularly reviewed to ensure this support the business as effectively as possible.
  • Anticipate and manage risk associated with employment matters, developing processes, procedures, and training to minimize where possible.
  • Experienced with managing TUPE transfers – both inwards and outwards
  • Manage constructive trade union relationships to support the business in evolving at the pace it needs to.
