Project Manager - Truro

Summary

If you’re a qualified Project Manager who wants to make a difference within a well-known Cornish Estate, then this could be the job for you. We’re looking for a Project Manager to help develop and lead a major transformation project, which includes key infrastructure improvements and other components, at Trelissick, near Truro. This high value project will help this special place towards an exciting, sustainable and accessible future, ensuring everyone continues to feel welcome at Trelissick. We also want to provide increased access to the parkland and walks, while at the same time improving our land for nature. All this will take place within our Grade II* listed parkland and garden which is home to one of Cornwall’s most popular visitor attractions. To make it happen you’ll be working with an experienced operational team and knowledgeable consultants, both internal and external. We want an inspirational leader with versatile project management skills, who can set us up for future success, deliver successful outcomes and realise our ambitious vision for this special place.

What it's like to work here

You’ll work flexibly between site and from home.  Your high-profile work will be integrated into our National Trust Consultancy which provides properties with advice and practical support across the full range of conservation, marketing and supporter development activities. While you will be deployed to Trelissick you will be part of the consultancy and the wider project management community in the National Trust, and we are looking for an active and enthusiastic contributor in these spaces.

What you'll be doing

You’ll lead on all elements to develop and manage the project, working to a highly engaged project board and supported by a wide consultancy network including Building Surveyors, Estate Managers, Archaeologists, Curators and other specialists.  You’ll liaise with external contractors, including architects, construction contractors, conservation specialists and regulatory bodies to develop the costed design scheme.  You’ll have the lead on the overall project. Initially this is about moving through feasibility to outline design, ensuring the right people, structure and funding is in place for a variety of different areas of work. You’ll manage the main contract, delivering the project to scope and budget. You’ll oversee connected projects and work-streams and ensure they are coordinated according to the overall project brief and programme.  A key aspect of this project is engaging and building relationships with our stakeholders both internal and external and you must be really comfortable working in a matrix environment deploying your considerable influencing skills.

Who we're looking for

If the following describes you, then we would like to hear from you …

  • Able to flourish in a complex and collaborative working environment.
  • Eager to share and use your knowledge and experience to help others.
  • Passionate about conservation of nature and heritage, about climate action, and inclusion.
  • Someone who comes to work each day to be the best you can and to learn and develop.

We’ll short list against the following criteria:

You'll have a demonstrable interest in our heritage buildings, and in sustainability and climate change relating to the development and operation of the built environment.

You''ll have experience of successfully delivering end to end project management including defining resources, leading procurement, securing project teams and matrix management across multiple projects.

You'll hold a recognised project management qualification (APM PMQ /Prince2 or similar) and show evidence of ongoing CPD in your career to date.

You'll have a successful track record of delivering projects that include significant construction elements to agreed time, cost and quality standards.
