This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

What you'll be doing

You'll act strategically as part of the Senior Leadership team for The Children's Country House, reporting directly to the General Manager. Alongside leadership of your department, you'll input into long term planning for the property and take an active role in the Duty Leadership rota, including some weekend working.

Some days you'll be planning maintenance, reacting to issues, or instructing contractors all to keep the operation working smoothly and safely. Other days you'll be delivering on projects including several exciting developments for our visitor facilities in the near future.

To be successful in this role you will need to draw on your leadership, planning and communication skills as much as your practical competence and knowledge. No two days will be the same but you can count on the consistency of a supportive and inclusive work environment.

You'll be accountable for the running of all aspects of facilities management, making sure we are safe and compliant.

  • A strong understanding of the core principles and functions of facilities management and maintenance;
  • Excellent previous experience of broad compliance and risk management, including knowledge of Health & Safety, Emergency procedures and Fire & Security procedures;
  • Experience of working with contractors and your own facilities team to get the best value for the National Trust;
  • Dynamic, pragmatic, and energetic leadership with a proven track-record of effectively managing people
  • Good communication, service and people skills;
