Project Manager - Swindon

Summary

It is an exciting time to join the National Trust. The ambition for outdoor experiences through to the year 2030 has been agreed and we are now at the point of realising this ambition through the creation of an outdoors programme of work.

Within this programme of work, we have an opportunity for a Project Manager, leading on play, to join the national Outdoor Experiences team, on a two-year fixed term contract. This is an incredible opportunity for someone to lead on the development of a new play ambition across the whole of the Trust, leading to the delivery of amazing playful experiences for children and families.

What it's like to work here

We’re bigger than you think, we’re more complicated than we appear and we’re larger scale than you’d imagine. We’ve got passionate people in all our teams, and we’ve got so much more we want to achieve. We’re for everyone, forever and we really mean that. We don’t want to stop at 5.5 million members, and we want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy access to our places, so we need to reach new audiences in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them without losing the hearts and minds of those that are already with us.
Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.

What you'll be doing

You’ll work closely with the Outdoor Experiences team, regions, countries and properties to support a national programme of activity across National Trust’s places.  This project will identify and extend some of the successful play interventions and programming already in place, whilst responding to the pull from audiences and properties to enhance and further develop the play offer. This will range from shaping major play developments at some places, to smaller scale natural play offers at many places, enabling more places to offer play in a meaningful and sustainable way that truly enhances visitor experience and engagement.
Communication is key. Your role will be to ensure our communication channels are up to date and effectively delivering information and actionable messages across the programme. It will be important to share what properties are doing, develop content for best practice guidance and ideas that are having a positive known impact. You’ll spot all avenues to be an advocate for the Outdoor Experience programme.

Who we're looking for

• Previous project management experience; demonstrable experience of managing and delivering projects on time and maintaining good stakeholder relationships

• A strong understanding and experience of the play sector and creating playful experiences, with a knowledge of impact it has on children’s development and well-being,

• Excellent people and influencing skills, enabling relationships to be built and maintained; comfortable at working with a wide variety of different types of people

• Great presentation skills with ability to identify opportunities to maximise accessibility through presenting data/information in a visually appealing way for different audiences

• Excellent people, organisational and communication skills
