Lampton Leisure is a new company setup to manage and operate the leisure services for Hounslow Council across the borough in Brentford, Chiswick, Hanworth, Heston, Isleworth & Osterley. Our leisure centres boast a full range of facilities including fitness studios, health suites, swimming pools, indoor & outdoor courts, pitches, tracks, and café facilities. It is our mission to provide inclusive and safe environments where we deliver supportive and professional services for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to make a real difference and an enjoyable customer experience for all users of the Centre’s facility.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking to recruit a Sports & Community Development Manager whose aim is to develop, promote and increase opportunities for the whole community to participate in positive sport, health and physical activity programmes across the London Borough of Hounslow.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead the sport and community strategic, developmental, and operational challenges for the Division.  
  • To implement and develop the Sport and Community Development Annual Service Plan, and to support the funded programmes Service Level Agreements. 
  • Coordination of corporate sports and community development initiatives and lead on Lampton Leisure Health & Wellbeing plan
  • Drive Lampton Leisure ambition to demonstrate their social value to the local community and make the centres a community hub
  • Engage with local and national partners to deliver health & wellbeing initiatives 
  • To work with multiple stakeholders including Sport England, NGB’s, London Sport and Sporting clubs.
  • To regularly brief the Commercial Director on matters relevant to the work of the Division and provide timely reports on all sports and community development activity when required, including health & wellbeing.
  • To identify, establish and develop substantial programmes, aimed at increasing levels of physical activity through a coordinated approach with other key partners.
  • The development of sport, taking into consideration national, regional, and county strategies and agendas for sport
  • To work in partnership to develop and implement new sports development initiatives across LB Hounslow in partnership with local providers in the voluntary, educational and commercial sectors.
  • To lead the SCD Team through Quest accreditation for Sport Development
  • To actively seek and apply for new sources of funding, both internally and externally and prepare evaluation reports/business cases, as appropriate and provide advice to external groups wishing to formulate grant applications. Maintain partnerships with existing funders, reporting key performance indicators and project measures to partners.
  • To manage and control budgets, monitor income and expenditure for the SCD department. Carry out critical financial management reviews to ensure value for money.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of the Hounslow Physical Activity & Sports Strategy.
  • To work with Hounslow’s Community Sport & Physical Activity Network to achieve a coordinated approach to the development of sport and physical activity throughout the borough, including health & wellbeing.
  • To oversee the organisation of the Borough’s entry into the London Youth Games, London Mini Marathon and other in-borough and inter-borough competitions and events.
  • To undertake outreach work with outside organisations, individuals and groups in order to establish and develop relationships with prospective participants from priority groups.
  • To work with school sport and physical activity networks and children and young people agencies to ensure sporting opportunities for young people are maximised both in the community and across the Leisure Centres. 
  • Establish, and subsequently monitor, key performance indicators and targets for the section.
  • Be responsible for the professional conduct of subordinate staff and coaches, oversee the recruitment process and appraise staff within the SCD team. 
  • Attend meetings as required which may be outside normal office hours and at weekends
