Hours – 37.5 per week

Trading Analyst skills and experience:

A strong analytical approach, with a passion for data analysis and problem-solving in a commercial context, with a keen eye for quality, accuracy, and attention to detail. Great software skills and experience with common data-storage and manipulation packages (e.g. PowerBI, SQL, etc) and a competent user of all MS Office packages (particularly MS Excel).

Experience dealing with large and complex datasets, and sophisticated data-manipulation, utilising data across various platforms (spreadsheets, databases, etc). Proven ability to present complex datasets in simplified, clear, easy-to-consume visuals (graphs, diagrams, tables, etc). Strong grasp of written English, with good experience providing insights and written explanations and summaries to support data reports to different audiences (e.g. Senior Management reports, technical teams, etc).

Strong communication & interpersonal skills, and a good team player with positive attitude to change and open to new ideas. The ability to work under own initiative, with an inquisitive mindset to query data, spot trends, anomalies and pose questions. Work effectively under pressure, to prioritise workload and multiple concurrent projects, and meet deadlines and set stakeholder expectations. Experience of engaging key stakeholders across many departments, and comfortable challenging existing processes, thinking and insights. Willingness to learn and understand data protection / privacy laws.

Job Title role responsibilities:

You’ll be responsible for collating, manipulating, and presenting trading data from various sources to peers and the Senior Leadership Team. You’ll analyse trading data, proactively identifying trends, anomalies, opportunities and offering recommendations.

You’ll be responsible for reviewing trading data sources to improve accuracy and efficiency in centralised systems. You’ll be responsible for producing ad-hoc data reports as required for trading stakeholders, management reports, etc.

This is a new position at YHA, and as such provides the successful applicant with some autonomy with which to develop and shape the role, and in turn, the potential to grow.
