About LCBT:

LCBT is a Specialist Vocational College, established in 1995 for Beauty, Retail, Holistic and related sectors and remains the largest Beauty Therapy college nationally, widely renowned within the Beauty Industry. LCBT has now expanded to offer a wide range of employability training, apprenticeships and a range of Health & Fitness and Teacher Training courses.

LCBT has been directly funded since 2004 and currently has about 1000 students passing through it each year. It holds contracts with the Education Funding Agency (EFA) and Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for the delivery of both classroom and workplace based learning.

LCBT achieved an OFSTED Grade 2 (Good) during its last inspection and holds the Matrix Standard for Internal and External Advice, Information and Guidance and the Investors in People (IIP) Gold Standard.

LCBT is open all year and operates without term breaks. Courses start throughout the year and learners can enrol and start their course during any month of the year.

Purposes and Objectives:

The Enrichment and Employer Engagement Officer is responsible for designing, delivering and coordinating a high quality programme of enrichment activities to complement their vocational studies including industry talks, opportunities for work experience and events with employers, talks and seminars from industry specialists and participation in exciting events across the beauty, hair and media make up and fitness sectors. To engage employers in Job shop and posting their vacancies and liaising with learners regarding applying for these vacancies and helping with CV’s.

LCBTs mission statement is courses for careers, and a key focus of this role is to engage with and network with employers enabling learners to maximise their exposure to the industries they are studying in and the wide ranging opportunities available to them through industry talks, events and work experience. The enrichment and employer engagement officer will also be responsible for engaging new employers for cross college business development opportunities and for sharing and promoting cross college services to the employers.

Working with the Programme Managers within the college, the post holder will ensure activities are

programmed to suit learner’s needs and timetables, and that development of opportunities is in line with industry trends and developments which the Programme Managers and lecturer’s knowledge will support.

Contacting and liaising with relevant organisations, institutions, companies and individuals to organise external and internal events and activities that inspire and excite learners in their career areas is key to ensuring delivery of a successful enrichment programme.

All enrichment activities are tracked and recorded on the college MIS system to ensure that timely data is available to support the hours of enrichment delivered, employer engagement contacts made and utilised cross college.

This role requires exceptional organisation skills with the ability to continuously develop new employer engagement, activities and opportunities for LCBT learners.

Main Duties / General Responsibilities:

  • Collating information and creating formal reports for managers as required.
  • To positively represent the College at all times.
  • Ensure the safety of your area by complying with all Health & Safety policies and procedures and reporting any issues to the Health & Safety Manager without delay.
  • Work effectively, efficiently and flexibly as an effective and committed member of the overall College team and within the department team.
  • Provide effective communication in a professional manner and one which is both informative and conducive to maintaining the College's high reputation within education and industry.
  • Adhere to all established systems within the department and implement any changes only as requested/authorised by management.
  • Liaise with Employers regarding LCBT Job shop and the benefits.
  • Supporting learners in their CV sessions and helping them with interview skills in order to apply for vacancies through LCBT Job Shop.
  • Ensure accurate record and data entry onto all systems as required by the department and management to enable accurate and full reporting.
  • Attend meetings as required to maintain knowledge and contribute to improvement of services.
  • Attend any training identified by your line manager or management as required to meet business needs or professional development. Keep up to date in subject area and actively participate in staff development.
  • Assume other duties in keeping with the role that may be required from time to time to cover holiday, staff absence or changing business needs

Main Duties / Key Responsibilities:

  • Outreach to employers and brands to acquire opportunities for learners in the form of enrichment, work placements and jobs.
  • Match student with employer for work placements, visit workplace to ensure H&S requirements are met. Set up beginning, middle and end meetings with learners and employers for work placements and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Actively recruit new applicants for the college especially school leavers by attending events and reaching out to schools and careers advisors.
  • Supporting learners find work placements and jobs and assisting them with their CVs and interview techniques in the form of workshops and one to ones.
  • Arrange, prepare, set up and attend events and liaise with the event management teams for external and internal events and school fairs and internal careers fairs and open events.
  • Develop an employer focused and high quality enrichment programme of events to meet the learners’ interests, support learner progression to employment and support learners to be engaged and retained on their vocational programmes of study.
  • Build relationships with external organisations to ensure a rolling programme of activities and industry talks are available to the students (industry talks take place daily)
  • Developing existing relationships to widen the employer involvement in supporting college based activities
  • Creating posters to display around college, creating and updating power-points for the presentation to learners.
  • Prepare and attend learner voice committee meetings and send out regular surveys to learners
  • Research and explore work experience, events and opportunities available in our sectors
  • To be on hand on induction week in August to support with the new intake (no annual leave to be booked last 2 weeks of August and whole of September)
  • Account Management activity with our key partners to ensure ongoing support of our enrichment programmes and activities.
  • Provide resources to support students to develop as self-employed or freelancers
  • Support linking employers to the college recruitment service
  • Work flexibly to allow learners to access activities and opportunities at all times (evening and weekend working will be required)
  • Accompany and oversee learners at external work experience / charity events
  • Provide presentations to new groups regarding the Enrichment opportunities available to them during their time at college.
  • Working to monthly employer engagement and enrichment activity targets, organise enrichment activities in line with timetable, outreach to new brands and find new opportunities and outings for the students.
  • Work closely with colleagues within the Operations department to proactively develop opportunities for further business.
