Summary

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***

*Internal Applicants only

Our colleagues work for the National Trust in many locations and sometimes don't have easy access to internal vacancy listings. Using the internet ensures we can reach as many of our colleagues as possible. We appreciate that this can be frustrating for external talent. Do note that some roles are released externally after an initial period of time.

.

Are you looking for the next step in your career with the National Trust and ready to step into a role leading a team? Do you have a passion for organising and helping others to get things done? This is a great short term secondment opportunity to flex your leadership muscles. Acting as a member of the Regional Business Services Leadership Team in the North, your main focus will be on leading your team to innovate and improve our processes and, crucially, to ensure that our Regional Management Team are fully supported to be at their very best in all they do.
Please do get in touch with Catharine Sharman - catharine.sharman@nationaltrust.org.uk if you think this role is for you, setting out what you could offer, and what you would hope to gain from this secondment.

What it's like to work here

This role can be based anywhere in the North, or even beyond our regional boundaries. Our systems have been set up to enable you to enjoy a hybrid working arrangement where you can choose the best working environment for the task in hand. Some days this could be working from home, on others it could be at one of our five regional hubs, or at a property. As this is a short secondment opportunity, your contracted place of work will likely remain as at present, or it may be the regional hub closest to where you currently live if that is different. We're a flexible employer and supportive of helping you find a healthy work-life balance.

What you'll be doing

The National Trust is a busy organisation that has a lot going on at all times - you can guarantee that no day is the same, so you'll have to love variety and working at pace. Our team provide specialist support to our Regional Director and Regional Management Team, so you'll lead a team of Business Service Co-ordinators who provide administrative and practical support to the Regional Management Team and beyond.
You'll help us plan ahead and prepare for future activity and will be willing to be an active, passionate part of our team. You'll always champion best practice when it comes to service and will be confident challenging the norm when you think there's a better way of doing something.
In any given day you could be helping to arrange a region-wide event, leading on hub activities, liaising with external partners, or looking at ways to review and improve a process. You could be coaching a team member to develop a new skill or leading a task/finish group to transform a service. You'll connect and form strong relationships with all the members of the Regional Management Team, with the other Regional Business Services Leads as well as being an active member of the National Business Services community.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is:
  • Highly organised and has experience of high-level support provision
  • A role model and leader with good people management skills, able to create a vision and encourage others to follow you to make it happen
  • A strong communicator who can confidently and clearly present their ideas and those of others
  • A strategic thinker who is able to understand how things fit together and spot the opportunities that appear
  • A process thinker with an enquiring mind who loves to explore the intricacies of how things work and what we can do to improve them
  • A confident multi-tasker, happy to roll their sleeves up and help us get the job done and able to prioritise own workload
  • A skilled IT user, happy to learn and explore new technology and systems as well as share the knowledge with others.
