Chef/Cook - £25,000 Salary FTE

Full Time – 40 hours per week – straight shifts.   Part time hours considered.

We are looking for a Chef/Cook to join our team at the Bishop’s Table Café within the beautiful setting of the Bishop’s Palace & Gardens.

You will support the Head of Catering and his team who deliver a brilliant F&B offer with the highest standards of customer service.

We are a thriving business within a charitable trust, which means our profits support the people who work, visit and live here. You will be joining a very supportive, professional team environment with job security and progression built into our ethos. Lots of visitors come across the drawbridge to enjoy our café, so it’s a busy environment but there are no split shifts, minimal evening work and the site is closed for Christmas and New Year.

We support sustainability and seek quality produce and suppliers to build our menus around the best Somerset has to offer. We are considerate employers and you will be joining a friendly, supportive team. We have a great reputation and loyal customers, so we always strive to improve our offer and your input is welcome.

Role Details:

  • The Bishop’s Table is in Wells Somerset
  • Full-time 40 hours – Part time hours considered
  • Straight shifts
  • Very occasional evening shifts – working hours finish by 4pm

As our ideal candidate you should:

  • NVQ Level 1 and 2 or City and Guild 7061/7062
  • Previous experience working in a busy catering environment and producing food to order
  • Experience of maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment
  • Carry out excellent communications skills, a proactive and positive approach along with energy and enthusiasm
