Events Manager - Major Venues Leadership Team

Commercial Events Manager - Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Based: Stratford, East London

Up to 49,580 Per Annum

This is a truly unique opportunity for an experienced Events Manager to work at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, within two of the countries most iconic sporting venues: the Copper Box Arena and the London Aquatics Centre.

Operated by GLL and forming a major part of the UK's Olympic and Paralympic legacy, these venues are high profile and have flexible and diverse events usage. The Copper Box Arena has already hosted events such as Playstation, Invictus Games, Fed Cup, various high profile awards ceremonies and corporate events and international sporting events including boxing, basketball, netball and handball to name a few.

The London Aquatics Centre has hosted the FINA Diving World Series, the British National Championships, Tokyo Olympic Qualification and host of corporate events. Uniquely, both of these venues are also real community hubs and are open to the public to run lessons and classes for local schools, people and community groups who use our sports halls, pools and gyms.

Working directly with our Partnership Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management and successful attraction of events business to the venues. Unafraid of a challenge, you will help us to bring in excess of 1million income for 2022. You will thrive on variety and will be able to confidently meet with clients, ticketing providers, suppliers and senior directors as well as giving tours of the venues, negotiating costs and producing contracts and proposals. You'll be briefing our operations teams on hosting a full range of events to ensure they're a success from both a service and financial perspective.

You will have proven experience of managing and running events at large high-profile venues and be looking for the next big thing on your career horizon. You will have an excellent understanding or knowledge of P&L and will be hungry to bring in new and exciting business including multi-year contracts. You will be comfortable both managing and delegating to stakeholders at all levels from senior personnel and head office to marketing as well as your local venue support teams. It goes without saying that you will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of Health & Safety legislation in relation to events management. If you can demonstrate that your experience in the successful attraction and delivery of a wide range of events, this could be the role for you.

In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:

- Pension schemes

- Ride to work scheme

- Discounted membership at our leisure centres

- The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we're run plus associated social events

- Career pathways

- Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
