Based: Petts Wood Library, Bromley. From 21,211.78 PA, + benefits

Petts Wood Library in the London Borough of Bromley is looking for a Library Assistant (Full time 36 hours per week, working alternative Saturdays and every Thursday till 7pm).

Bromley Libraries are operated by GLL on behalf of the London Borough of Bromley.

n 2019/20 Bromley Libraries were second in terms of stock issues in London and has an excellent reputation for user and community engagement among the local population. With community at the heart of everything we do, as a Library Assistant, you will ensure that every visitor to the Library is welcomed into a clean, safe and attractive environment that can service their needs and ensure that they want to keep returning.

As a key frontline staff member, you will adapt to and acknowledge the diversity of our visitors and what they aim to get out of their library visit, as well helping them to discover our wide range of resources and services. Your passion for libraries and community engagement will be apparent as you help people do everything from discovering new authors to tracking their ancestry from our online resources and even helping them find their ideal job using our IT systems.

You will ideally come from a library background, but it will be your enthusiasm for helping others and devotion to customer care that makes you really stand out. Naturally good with people, you will be able to put people of all ages and backgrounds at ease whilst helping to promote our services. Organised, efficient and thriving on variety, you will be just as competent using IT and library management systems as you are running storytimes and family fun days for our younger audience. It goes without saying that you will need excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills, but you'll also need excellent administration skills, knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and the processes involved with the security and operation of a public building.

In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:

Pension schemes

Discounted membership at our leisure centres

Career pathways

Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
