Climbing Instructor - Energise
GLL is looking for Climb Instructors at Energise Leisure Centre, York. This is an exciting time to join us as Climbing is a growing sport within GLL; we are the largest operator of climbing walls in the UK with over 20 walls delivering 100's of hours of safe but challenging activities to children and adults nationally.
This is by no means a 9 to 5 office job; you'll be working and hanging from a wall, so you'll need to be passionate about climbing. As a Climb Instructor you'll deliver climbing sessions in an engaging, enthusiastic and safe manner to climbers of all levels, from children and adults to those with physical/learning disabilities. You'll help create a warm and friendly atmosphere for customers, so you'll need good communication and people skills.
On quieter days you'll spend your time helping customers with hints and tips on their climbing, you'll also teach our Junior Club sessions once the school day is over. On busier days you'll be expected to teach not only Junior Club sessions but also Private Lessons, Birthday Parties, GCSE Climbing programmes, come and try sessions and Adult courses!
Not only will you deliver climbing sessions, you'll also help out with the day to day duties, such as ensuring the centre is well presented, equipment inspections and responding to customer queries, so you'll need a positive, can do attitude to get stuck in and help your team.
You must have a passion for sport and people with a willingness to learn. Previous experience in a customer facing role is highly desirable as you'll deliver excellent customer service. Ideally, you'll already hold NGB climbing qualifications or equivalent, which can be a Single Patch Award (SPA), Climbing Wall Award (CWA) and/or a Climbing Wall Leading Award (CWLA) or the training element in any one of these.
In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:
Pension schemes
Discounted membership at our leisure centres
Career pathways
Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best
