Summary

Heading up our Visitor Operations across Saltram and a small satellite countryside property called Plymbridge, you'll be leading visitor facing teams to ensure everyone is welcome and that our audiences feel that there is something for them.  Saltram is situated just 4 miles outside of Plymouth and is a place loved by locals, welcoming approximately 1 million visits a year.   We have a clear vision to ensure that Saltram is a place for Plymouth, that it enhances nature and becomes a world class cultural resource.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced visitor operations professional to make a real difference for nature and people. You'll inspire and lead staff and volunteers to provide great visitor experiences at our busy site.  You'll play a key role in our leadership team working with colleagues looking after the countryside, our built heritage and facilities and public engagement. You'll also be part of a broader Visitor Experience professional network working across the South West.

What it's like to work here

No two days are the same at Saltram. You may be out in the parkland working on ways to better engage our local audiences with nature, planning how we balance access and conservation during our busiest programme of the year at Christmas, or being part of the team developing the future of Saltram for the benefit of the nation. It is a varied and diverse role with lots of opportunity to develop yourself and your team.

We know from a wealth of audience insights that the public love and have a lot of pride in Saltram, so you'll be surrounded by passionate people who look after our special places and by those who want to support our work. You'll be joining a great team which is growing and keen to provide the best experiences for our visitors.. Like many, we are still rebuilding after Covid and are restarting some of our operations. You'll be part of a wider community within the National Trust and partners helping us build new and better experiences for all of our visitors.

You'll be experienced in visitor management, ideally at a busy site, and always looking for ways to improve to ensure high standards of presentation and safety. You'll be the portfolio lead for visitor income, audience led programming, marketing, face to face fundraising operations and site commercial opportunities as they arise.
You'll also play a key role in the property leadership team looking forward to help shape the future direction of our place at the same time as driving strong operational performance; and playing an active role in some of our major projects, as well as managing budgets and ensuing we meet all our compliance tasks.
