Hostel Manager - Ambleside, Cumbria

YHA Grasmere

42.5 hours

£30,680-£33,000

A rare opportunity has arisen to join the management team in our Northwest and Lake District region as Hostel Manager of YHA Grasmere.  Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park, this beautiful village was once described by poets William and Dorothy Wordsworth who lived in Grasmere for 14 years as "the loveliest spot that man hath ever found”.

YHA Grasmere is a busy hostel in our Lake District portfolio, often bustling with hikers, climbers, history buffs, nature lovers, poets and artists alike. The amazing 80 bed converted Victorian mansion with spectacular views of the Rothay Valley and surrounding fells has extensive grounds often occupied by school and youth groups. The hostel is split into 2 buildings with the main house having 52 beds and the annex building 28 beds which is accessed via beautiful stone steps.  Our site at Grasmere can accommodate camping for up to 12 tents located on the front lawn of the hostel and has a small offering of alternative accommodation through the summer months: 2 x 4 bed Tipis and 1 land pod.

Are you looking for a new challenge in this beautiful part of the Lake District? We’d love to hear from you. Whether an outdoor enthusiast or not this is a fabulous opportunity to work in a location with breath-taking mountainous views.

YHA have amazing properties in some of the most iconic and inspiring places in England and Wales. And you’ll have plenty of time to make the most of these amazing places in your spare time. Whether you’re an urban explorer, countryside rambler or a seasoned surfer, there’s a YHA for you.
