YHA Chester Trafford Hall 

Hours – 42.5 hours 

Live In or out (Staff accommodation available at £58.52 per week)

Rate of Pay - £23,537 per year

Catering Manager skills and experience:

Our Catering manager role requires flexibility to cover different shifts and tasks. It’s an advantage but not essential that our catering managers have worked in a face-to-face role with customers previously. Experience** in hospitality or customer service would be advantageous, including the management and delivery of a quality service.

Proven experience of working with the hospitality industry would be advantageous and significant experience of food and beverage best practice is essential.  Qualifications such as City & Guilds 706/ 1&2, NVQ4 or equivalent level of experience, Food Safety Level 2 Certificate are desired.  Experience working knowledge of allergens and health and safety compliance requirements along with excellent numeracy skills and experience of stock control and waste principles to maximise profit is essential.

Duties vary so good communication* skills, excellent timekeeping and basic IT skills are advantages.

Knowledge and understanding of YHA’s core purpose and experience of working in a team are beneficial.

Catering Manager role responsibilities:

Our Catering managers are responsible for supporting the management of an operational budget and delivery of KPI’s, supporting with a wide range of customer facing duties across the hostel, delivering an excellent service to all guests and visitors, giving them a great experience of YHA.

Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • managing the food & beverage operation within your hostel
  • leading the preparation & delivery of food to agreed YHA standards
  • carrying out cleaning duties predominantly within our kitchen and F&B service areas
  • minimising food/beverage waste
  • maximising food/beverage profits
  • managing, supporting & coaching the catering team

  • Start your day off right with our delicious classic hearty cooked breakfast and continental options from your buffet. For a lighter start, you can buy the continental breakfast, this is provided daily.  
  • All day menu. From hearty meals and lighter bites to delicious desserts, including kids meals. 
  • Bar snacks - most popular is our daily Cuppa & Cake offer!
  • Meeting Room - Working Lunches/Buffet Lunches or a simple Packed Lunch. 
  • Cooperate Evening Meal Menu for of Conference/Business Group Overnights. 
  • We provide our groups/school overnight residential our 7 day cycle groups menu

YHA Trafford Hall is located on Ince Lane between Elton and Mickle Trafford - where Public Transport is restricted, the nearest bus route is the X30 and a 10 minute walk to the Hostel - car/cycle or walking distance would be suitable for some shift patterns.
