What you need to know about the role...

Our newly created Senior Brand Manager role will lead cross-functional workstreams and programmes that ensure the delivery of our vision: to break down barriers to fitness, for all. At The Gym Group, we believe in the power of brand to transform our businesses, drive growth and create financial value.

We are looking for a unique blend of creative thinking, strategic depth, analytical rigour but with a passion for delivery. This role would best suit a broad thinker with experience across brand research and analysis, purpose and positioning, brand architecture and identity and employee branding. We are looking for someone with a strong command of modern marketing principles and understanding of how to build powerful brands in todays world.

In partnership with a number of stakeholders across the business, this role will oversee medium term rolling roadmaps of brand-wise & company wide initiatives. These projects have a wide span of functional requirements including (but not limited to) strategy, operations, comms & people. This role will work in partnership with the Group Brand & Marketing Director and the Head of Marcom, to deliver a progressive agenda & a set of consumer-facing workstreams set around 4 key pillars:

Brand Identity: Visual & full sensory experience delivery of a brand ecosystem embedded in the organisation

Beyond Consumers, Define & manage our Financial Brand (inc. Corporate PR), Employer Brand & B2B Brand, that creates stand out from the competition and markets us these audiences

Main job activities:
  • Acts as our brand guardian for our brand identity across the organisation (beyond initial roll out) ensuring consistency in delivery in an on-going basis
  • Identifies gaps and learnings in our VI system, to continually evolve our Brand Identity for maximum impact, delivering distinctiveness and memorability
  • Lead a cross-functional team to clarify the transformation plan for all touchpoints, internal and external facing communications, tools, platforms and assets
  • Drive Interconnectedness across functions to deliver a cohesive operational plan for brand identity role out
  • Partner with key teams to deliver on prioritised transformation opportunities that deliver on commercial goals
  • Develop a long-term roadmap for transformation across our 4 key pillars
  • Supporting the People Team to in the change management programme for the organisation (embedding a new VI, new brand platform and becoming member centric)
  • Work in an advisory role and as a change agent engaging leaders to understand and identify opportunities for meaningful transformation activity.

  • Ability to develop a critical path of key activities, providing planning support and identifying and managing dependencies across transformation plans.
  • The ability to tell a story and move hearts and minds to bring people in
  • Highly collaborative: can proactivity build a network & craft a mutually beneficial proposition for successful partnership
  • Ability to shaping the future by helping to generate a single-minded vison for the various workstreams
  • Simplification: This role will work with very senior partners within marketing/other functions on a regular basis, so simplifying & framing complex issues is key
  • 8-10 years in Brand Marketing / Project Management/ Agency / Design Agency experience
  • Proficient in navigating a matrixed organization
  • Track record of successful transformation delivery
  • Strong business acumen and critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experienced in delivering big outcomes in a fast-paced environment
  • Challenging conventional views and presenting ideas persuasively to gain buy-in
  • Able to translate strategic thinking to creative and innovative solutions
