Senior Library Assistant - Wandsworth

Senior Library Assistant (Full Time 36 hours per week)

Based: Wandsworth Town Library

22,300.52 + benefits

Wandsworth Town Library is looking for a Senior Library Assistant (Full Time 36 hours per week), for this highly-regarded library, operated by GLL in Wandsworth, South West London. This busy Town Centre library has an excellent reputation for user and community engagement among the local population.

With community at the heart of everything we do, as a Senior Library Assistant, you'll ensure that every visitor to the Library is welcomed into a clean, safe and attractive environment with useful facilities that keep them wanting to return. As a key frontline member of staff, you'll adapt to, and acknowledge, the diversity of our visitors and what they aim to get out of their library visit as well as helping them to discover our wide range of resources and services. Your passion for libraries and community engagement will be apparent as you help people do everything from discovering new authors to tracking their ancestry from our records and even helping them find their ideal job using our IT systems.

You'll ideally come from a library background, but it'll be your enthusiasm for helping others and devotion to customer care that makes you really stand out. Naturally good with people, you'll be able to put people of all ages and backgrounds at ease whilst helping to promote our services. Organised, efficient and thriving on variety, you'll be just as competent using IT and library management systems as you are running story times for our younger audience. You'll need excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills, alongside administrative skills, knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and the processes involved with the security and operation of a public building. As a senior member of the team you will be responsible for supervising the work of others and have cashing and locking up responsibilities.

In return, we offer a range of benefits that you'd expect from the UK's largest leisure provider:

Pension schemes

Ride to work scheme

Discounted membership at our leisure centres

The opportunity to join the GLL Society and have a say in how we're run plus associated social events

Career pathways

Ongoing training and development to help you to be the best

We'll offer all the training and support that you'll need to thrive in this demanding yet fulfilling environment.

Closing date: 5 June 2022

All pay rates are subject to skills, experience, qualifications and location.

To be shortlisted for the role, internal applicants will need to demonstrate their commitment to GLL by becoming a Society member where eligible.
