We can't promise to give you exactly what you want, but we are happy to explore what's possible for the role.

In a nutshell

This is a fantastic opportunity for either a proficient engineering manager looking for a new and expanded challenge, or an aviation professional/engineer looking for their first opportunity to step into management, with the support of a development programme.

You will manage a diverse team that has responsibility for all Engineering & Maintenance technical authoring, documentation, procedures, and business performance reporting.

You will have responsibility for the management and development of a small team, whilst overseeing financial and contractual agreements.

Day to day

Manage a diverse team, ensuring high performance and employee engagement

Oversight of the technical publications, reporting and library teams; setting priorities, measuring and managing metrics and overcoming complex problems.

Manage a significant budget and be responsible for accurate delivery. You will also define mid to long-term budget requirements.

Change management to continuously improve the team and move to paperless / mobile technology / self-serve reporting

Responsibility for delivering an effective, high quality and compliant technical information service to the VAA Part M and Part 145 organisations.

Manage data / service contracts with Airbus, Boeing and other suppliers

Manage Engineering and Maintenance business reporting, ensuring each area has effective reports/dashboards that enable effective management using high quality reporting, analysis and insights.

Manage aircraft documentation and software tool requirements for new fleet acquisitions

Represent VAA at industry conferences and seminars to ensure we remain at the forefront of the industry

Explore and develop VAA Technology deployment in the field of Technical Documentation / Tool

Ensure regulatory compliance with related Part M requirements.

Support regulatory audits and resolve any discrepancies

Support Safety investigations

Support projects – new technology / software etc.

Champion the use of data, insights and technology across VAA Engineering & Maintenance to continuously improve business efficiencies.

About you

To succeed in your application, you will have relevant commercial aviation experience in Part M, with an understanding of the broader regulatory requirements, such as Part 145 and be educated to degree level or hold equivalent experience.

Prior experience in the field of maintenance data, documentation management and reporting/analytics is required. Experience with database management/programming (preferably in SQL), reporting (Business Objects or Crystal Reports) and visualisation tools (PowerBI, Tableau or similar) is desirable.

It will be advantageous to have prior management experience, however for a candidate showing the desired attributes, a management development programme will be provided. Where prior management experience is lacking, attributes such as being highly driven, self-motivated, good communication, team builder and high performance are essential.

This is a fantastic and rare opportunity to manage a dynamic team and gain management development / experience, if required. The role offers a high degree of autonomy to shape and build a high performing team at the heart of Engineering at Virgin Atlantic. If the above sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
