We’re looking for a new IT Senior Security Engineer to join our team.

The Security Operations Team is being aligned with the Networks Team with the long-term goal of setting up an NSOC. 

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon however, there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. 



What you'll be doing

The Security Operations Team provides security monitoring and incident response for the Trust using a variety of industry-standard security tools which include IDS/IPS, Anomalous Network Behavioural, DLP, SIEM, Network Access Control, WAF, Denial of Service Attack (DDoS), Cloud-Based Security Monitoring and Alerting platforms using AWS, Azure and Microsoft 365 services, among others.  
You'll have excellent understanding of intrusion analysis, incident response, you will use this experience to identify and investigate security events promptly, following internal processes. You’ll analyse the toolset and provide clear and concise weekly and monthly reports aimed at supplying upper management a good indication of the overall health of the environment. You’ll provide continuous development and maintenance of incident documentation, processes and procedures (incl. incident response plans, playbooks, security tool configurations) taking into consideration new threats & technology changes.  

Who we're looking for

  • Experience of monitoring, identifying and responding to security events and incidents in a Security Operations environment 
  • Practised in development and optimisation of security controls & tooling to continually improve monitoring, and detection of new security threats, specifically Microsoft and Cisco security tool sets 
  • Experience in using enterprise security tools and tech including 0365 security, Microsoft EM+S, DDoS protection, Cisco ISE/Umbrella, Azure and AWS cloud security controls and Windows 10 is essential 
  • Help deliver new cyber security initiatives, driving best value from our tooling & supporting technologies 
  • Good understanding of SIEM systems and Security Assessments/ Vulnerability Scanning 
  • Good knowledge of networking and traffic flow (TCP/IP) and administration skills across one-or-more operating systems including Windows, MacOS, or Linux; and familiarity with at least one scripting language (Perl, Python, Bash etc…) 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with knowledge of current cyber threats/trends 
  • Experience in defining and documenting Security processes and procedures 
  • Commitment to self-development and be enthusiastic about acquiring new skills and embracing new technologies
