Head of Channels -

Summary

We’re looking to recruit a marketing professional who is both technically proficient and customer focussed. At the National Trust we have a strong and influential set of owned marketing channels which we’re ready to grow and shape further in collaboration with our consumers.
The successful candidate will be leading the channel direction of one of the UK’s most successful and well-known brands.
Salary: £65,000 - £68,000 dependent on experience

What it's like to work here

The places we help everyone to enjoy might be rooted in history, but our marketing is far from behind-the-times. We’re joining up the dots and strengthening our approach to make sure people feel emotionally connected with, and inspired by, our cause. An exciting time? Absolutely. An extraordinary opportunity too.

Over recent years, our marketing activity has come on leaps and bounds. We’ve drawn on insight to reach out and engage new audiences in bolder, more creative ways than ever before. We’ve amplified our brand and put in place powerful tools and strategies to deliver on ambitions. Right now, it’s about building on this – and we’re looking for imaginative, creative sparks to help us do just that.

Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. The role will involve travel to our head office to meet with stakeholders and your team.

What you'll be doing

The role involves directing and growing the positive brand impact of all our channels, from Twitter to Tik Tok, our tri-annual membership magazine to paid media, our radio and tv presence to exploring new channels.
We’re looking for someone who has lots of strategic and tactical customer vision and the ability to lead a team with clear direction on all aspects of implementation and return-on-investment.  Ensuring cohesion of brand messages across our channels is also important and will require clear leadership.
Commercial understanding and a fluency with numbers and metrics is a must.  In this role you will be developing our future channel plans with our values and organisational conscience at the core.  We have a clear charity focus on driving change in climate action and welcoming diversity – two areas of focus which will shape our marketing future.  If you enjoy practice above theory this is likely to be a role that will interest you. It’s certainly a fast-paced role in an organisation which has far reaching social impact.

Who we're looking for

If you have channel leadership experience, a creative instinct and a fluency in consumer acquisition and retention please do look at the role profile attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what is possible in this role. For this position were looking for someone who has:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of consumer behaviour and the effects and applications of a full range of media channels
  • Able to show strong leadership and people development skills
  • Experienced in communication, influencing and advocacy both internally up to board level and with external stakeholders or partners
  • Significant experience of marketing, brand and communications strategy development in a large and complex organisation
  • Experienced in leading a creative team within a marketing department or agency
  • Passionate user of social media
