Experience:

SPECIFIC DUTIES 

The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:

  1. Welcome and acknowledge each and every guest with a smile, eye contact and a friendly verbal greeting. Using the guests name were possible.
  2. To be aware of hotel's layout and facilities.
  3. To supervise a team of associates ensuring that all bedrooms correspond with lists given, reporting any discrepancies immediately Reception.
  4. Inspect the level of cleanliness, presentation and condition of guest rooms, storage areas, and public areas to ensure brand standards are adhered to.
  5. Check to ensure job of the day tasks are been completed.
  6. To spot check the cleaning of bedrooms by self checking room attendants to ensure Marriott standards are adhered to at all times.
  7. Ensure cleaning and servicing of guest rooms is carried out in a timely and organized manner according to the procedure and standards.
  8. Ensure all relevant Housekeeping reports are completed correctly.
  9. Ensure correct door knocking procedure is followed.
  10. Immediately log any lost property onto the Lost and Found tracker.
  11. Responsible for entering room status to 'Clean' via the phone system once the room has been checked to brand standard.
  12. Report all maintenance faults via the phone/computer or directly to Engineering.
  13. To liaise with the Maintenance department to continuously follow up any preventive and outstanding maintenance of the hotel property/equipment and to ensure the work is done efficiently and to the required standard.
  14. To check that all equipment within the department is used properly, is in good working order, stored correctly and is always kept clean
  15. Respond quickly to guest's requests and report guests complaints to appropriate departments.
  16. Respect the privacy of every guest by treating any confidential information with caution in line with hotel policies.
  17. To strictly follow the procedure for general security of master keys and allowing guests access to rooms when asked to be let in.
  18. To maintain sufficient operating par stocks of guest's supplies, cleaning materials and linens in accordance with hotel occupancies
  19. To conduct the Housekeeping morning meetings ensuring relevant operational information is covered and short takes are talked about and signed off.
  20. In the absence of the Exec Housekeeping Manager to attend the 10@10 morning meetings. Be prepared with all relevant paperwork and any responses of any guest comments.
  21. To assist the Exec Housekeeping Manager to control and reduce expenses in terms of linen, materials and supplies.
  22. To take an active role as a team member, welcoming new members of staff, assisting with their training and participating fully in all on-going training initiatives. 
  23. Fully understand all fire and emergency evacuation procedures.  Observes Company and Statutory Health and Safety Regulations.
  24. To report any suspicions items or circumstances to your Manager/Person on Duty.
  25. To ensure lights, electricity, gas and water are not used unnecessarily in your working area.

  27. Keep uniform smart and clean at all times. Maintain personal hygiene standards at all times.
  28. Name badge to be worn at all times.
  29. To maintain and follow procedures for handling of Lost and Found items. Deal with any lost and Found enquires as soon as they are received.
  30. To maintain effective communication on a day to day basis in the Housekeeping department and with other departments within the hotel.
  31. To ensure all shifts are adequately staffed according to business demands
  32. To ensure a weekly rota is posted in a timely fashion and is in line with the payroll targets
  33. To ensure associates attend all training required for their position
  34. Ensure all holidays are tracked and reported in the payroll system
  35. Liaise with the Housekeeping Supervisors on a daily basis for general clean rooms, daily tasks and to assist where needed
  36. Check all invoices for accuracy and cross check back with own records
  37. Liaise with linen company & other agencies where necessary to ensure the smooth running of the operation
  38. Attend Departmental meetings, participating when appropriate.
  39. Attend any training sessions as identified or requested by Head of Department.

OTHER

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by management.
  • Complies with Marriott International Hotels Limited Regional Office policies and procedures.
  • Working hours in line with contract.  On occasions, working hours may alter due to the demand of the business.
