About Us

Artfam is a “one of a kind” business. With its unique ethos, Artfarm has changed people’s expectations of what a hotel or restaurant can be. That power has come from a team who at every level share the beliefs, passions and ambitions of its founders, Iwan and Manuela Wirth.

The Fife Arms was the first hotel venture for Artfarm and impressively won The Times ‘Hotel of The Year’ Award in its first year of opening! The Fife is a Victorian coaching inn situated within the village of Braemar in the magnificent Cairngorms National Park. It brings together Scottish heritage, craftsmanship and culture with world-class contemporary art and a strong sense of community.

The role

Ensure quality food preparation and presentation, ensuring an unsurpassed dining experience every time. Play a vital role in ensuring that all corners of the kitchen are operating to the highest of standards as instructed by the Head Chef and General Manager.

What success looks like…

  • Guest Service

Understand and be able to cover all sections of the kitchen, setting high standards and a good example to the team.  Create memorable experiences for our guests through the delivery of our Standard Operating Procedures ensuring that every guest feels special and wants to return.

  • Food Creation

Create, develop and maintain an inspiring recipe book using the very best of local and national natural resources and ingredients.

  • Relationships & Communication

Coach your team to achieve the highest standards. Work cohesively with the wider Hotel Team, particularly F&B and Front Office and have strong relationships with our suppliers. Display a high standard of colleague relations, promoting a professional image with a caring and helpful attitude. Information sharing is key.

  • Budget

Take full responsibility to demonstrate a high level of awareness to achieve target GP levels and wage percentages. Support the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chefs in contributing towards the kitchen budget which in turn supports the General Manager to achieve the Hotel financial targets.

  • Health & Safety

Support and promote a safe working environment by adhering to Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, Fire and Evacuation procedures.

  • Training

Take ownership of your personal development, enhancing your ability to build knowledge, whilst supporting the development of the team around you by coaching and being an excellent role model.

Like all roles at Artfarm, you can expect your time at work to be fun, varied and challenging. As well as fulfilling the duties and responsibilities on your job description, we know from experience that jobs can evolve throughout the lifetime of a role and this in turn gives our people the chance to play to their strengths.
