AZURE BI DEVELOPER

We are looking for a Azure BI Developer to join our fast paced but friendly head office in Hatfield. This is an exciting opportunity to join Europe's Premier Racquets & Fitness Provider and a ‘Sunday Times Best Big Company’, working on the digital workstream in an established Business Intelligence team.

It is a great role responsible for delivering data and reporting to the business. The successful candidate will identify and design data solutions that are in-line with business requirements to derive value from data. You must be a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills who can take ownership and steer discussions around how to measure identified business problems. You will be developing our modern data platform in Azure, integrating new data sources, designing new Power BI dashboards and providing adhoc analysis.

We are looking for someone who:

Key Responsibilities

Data solution architecture

Provide expert technical advice and guidance to help scope out and design reporting solutions Translate business requirements into technical data solutions Develop innovative ETL approaches to bring a diverse set of on-prem and cloud-based data sources into the Data Lake Identify and implement suitable data quality management and meta data management solutions

Azure platform development and management

Develop and operate the Azure BI platform. Design, develop, test, and roll-out effective Azure data repositories, such as databases, data marts, blob storage, and analytics models to deliver automated reporting, Power BI dashboards, and deploy data science capability. Develop Data Factory, and other data movement processes as required to support the Digital teams in reporting, auditing, and other data needs Where necessary create new formats/processes or methodologies, document and communicate them to the wider BI community as needed to enhance the organisations capabilities Develop and implement error and exception management processes, ensuring causes of poor data quality are identified and escalated to the business owners Ensure the BI environment is proactively monitored, data flows from source systems are robust with adequate fault tolerance, the reporting layer is consistent, and new developments are designed in a modular fashion Maintain and performance tune the cloud-based data storage solutions 

 

Education and Experience

Degree in computer science, information systems, or another related technical field Possesses a background in software and/or database development and engineering, data architecture, and managing BI Solutions Experience as a database or ETL developer preferable on SQL server platform Experience of designing conceptual and logical data models Hands-on experience with developing in BI cloud technologies in Azure including Data Factory, Power BI (DAX) Extensive working experience of Microsoft BI solutions (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database issues such as integrity, performance, replication, connectivity, recovery, and security. Experience in agile methodologies Experience in preparing data for data science and Machine Learning

 

Knowledge/Skills

Ability to identify a business problem and recommend Design and development of best practice ETL flows, data stores, dimensional models, cubes Data warehousing and best practice BI Architecture Data aggregation and dimensional modelling, OLAP Data preparation (sourcing, acquisition, integration) Proven ability to solve problems of varied technical backgrounds Fluency with appropriate tools including Azure DevOps, Visual Studio other SQL Server Management tools Awareness of best practice, trends, and evolutions in the IT industry and most particularly MS Azure technology stack.
