Health & Exercise Development Officer - Southampton

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to cover a period of maternity leave from October 2021 to September 2022, with responsibility for generating, developing and delivering physical activity and public health interventions, submitting bid/grant proposals and facilitating the Solent Wellbeing and Exercise Referral initiatives.

The successful candidate will possess a degree in a relevant subject (Public Health, Physical Activity, Sport, Fitness etc.) and be qualified as a REPs Level 3 Personal Trainer/Exercise Referral Trainer, preferably with a Level 4 specialist qualification (e.g. Falls Prevention, Cancer Rehabilitation, Diabetes and Weight Management etc.). Previous experience working with clients with specialist medical conditions, delivering physical activity sessions/workshops and applying for funding opportunities are essential. Excellent communication skills, working to deadlines and the ability to work within a team are also critical for the role.

This post is fixed term for up to 12 months to provide maternity cover
