The Waggon & Horses is a classic, local pub with an excellent product range and exceptional service. We’re looking for a Management Partner who can return this beautiful and characterful venue to its former glory, ensuring consistent offer and opening and food service times. You will offer quality food, a fantastic scheme, and exceptional service.
There is an opportunity for the savvy operator to broaden the demographic into the family and younger market (the 35-54 age group make up 43.5% of the spend in venues within three miles). You will use your business acumen and marketing skills on social media to grow sales. We are looking for an operator who can deliver high-quality food and drink for all occasions. Plus, the cask marque needs to be five stars, EHO five stars with consistent standards. Putting these pieces into place will be the game-changer, ensuring long-term growth.
We need a mature and experienced host or hostess. You will also be able to delegate to a well-trained and engaging team. You will need to excel in all aspects of the business, ensuring consistency from the kitchen to the cellar. You’ll make the Waggon & Horses the heartbeat of the community.
You will ensure that the Waggon & Horses is the best pub in St. Neots, something for everyone to enjoy whatever the occasion. They will always receive a warm welcome. This community pub offers elevated pub classics. Guests will enjoy a hidden garden haven for families and friends of all ages to come together.
The Pub and Location
The Waggon & Horses is a traditional inn located in the village of Eaton Socon, Cambridgeshire. The pub dates back to the early 1700s, when it was originally two cottages, but has held a licence since before 1799.
Many of the original features are still prominent. With a large open fire and beams, it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The pub serves a range of quality real ales, good wines, and coffee to complement the traditional home-cooked pub food offering. Sunday roast lunches are also a speciality.
We will invest in the pub to refurbish it whilst retaining as many original features as possible. We will remove the carvery unit and zone the pub to add cosy corners and flexible dining and drinking spaces. We will aim to restore the feel of the traditional pub, removing the shed from behind the toilets to allow light back in refurbed gents and ladies.
We also have plans for the kitchen to allow for the creation of quantity food. We’ll also carve a garden out of the car park, reinstating access to the housing at the back.
You will benefit from a diverse population density and spread from prosperous professionals to people on a budget. Broadening the age range to include 25-54-year-olds, including families into the mix, and encouraging growth in the Monday to Saturday market will transform sales.
