Duty Manager - Outdoor Sports - Colchester Northern Gateway

Contract Type  – Permanent

Working Hours - 37 hours per week, weekend and evening working will be required.

Colchester Borough Council has entered the next exciting phase in the development of its sport and leisure facilities. This includes the construction of a new multi-million-pound facility in north of Colchester to complement the on-going investments in the existing regionally renowned leisure facilities, operated by Leisure World Colchester, which attract over 1 million visits a year.

We are seeking a high calibre Duty Manager to join our team at the new Colchester Northern Gateway Sports Park which was opened by Colchester Borough Council in April 2021.

Duty Manager (Outdoor Sports) will ideally have a specialist knowledge and or qualifications within road cycling or bike maintenance would be a distinct advantage.

The Duty Manager will play a key role within the delivery and development of this exciting £29 million Sports Park which will provide; Health and Fitness, Indoor Cricket, Sports Hall, Café, Closed Road Cycle Circuit, Outdoor Pitches (including 3G).

You will lead a team on the day-to-day operational delivery of the facility. The post holder will also play a key role within the delivery of the cycle development program, coaching and sporting events and partnerships; key partners include British Cycling.

The successful candidate would ideally have similar experience within the public or private sector, focusing on program development and delivering high quality customer care within a leisure and/or sports environment. 

You will have strong operational skills and a demonstrable track record of developing/ delivering quality services and understanding of sport and community development-based initiatives aligning to our council’s core objectives - Customer, Business and Culture.
