Introduction to the Swansea Marriott Hotel

Edging the marina, Swansea Marriott Hotel is a stylish haven in the lively city centre.  The Swansea Marriott Hotel welcomes business travelers and vacationing families with superb service and a prime waterfront location and easy access to the beautiful Swansea Bay beach just meters from our front door.  This alongside local attractions such as Liberty Stadium, Swansea Waterfront Museum and the stunning Gower Peninsula, Swansea Marriott caters for all our guest needs.

The Role Itself and the Duties Involved  

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Front Office Department for a Front Desk Clerk. The role itself is a part time contract and you will be expected to work 20 hours a week.

Main Duties Include:

Assign room according to guest request and preferences. Pre-register designated guests and prepare key packets. Organize and coordinate check-in/pre-registration procedures for arriving groups. Review/Track/Accommodate requests for room/check-out changes when possible; communicate status to appropriate staff. Answer, record, and process all guest inquiries, requests, questions, or concerns. Contact appropriate individual or department to resolve guest call, request, or complaints. Follow up and ensure that any outstanding requests are resolved. Advice guest of any messages received. Verify and adjust billing. Operate telephone switchboard station. Log guest requests, incidents, adjustments and comment cards into computer to allow for proper tracking and documentation. Supply guests with directions and property information. Ensure Marriott high level of service standards are met all the time.

 

Process all guest check-ins by confirming reservations, assigning room, and issuing and activating room key. Process all payment types such as room charges, cash, checks, debit, or credit. Process all check-outs including resolving any late and disputed charges. Answer, record, and process all guest calls, messages, requests, questions, or concerns. Coordinate with Housekeeping to track readiness of rooms for check-in. Communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors and dispatch bell staff or valet staff as needed. Supply guests with directions and information regarding property and local areas of interest. Run daily reports (number of arrivals, departures), identify any special requests, and check reports for accuracy. Complete designated cashier and closing reports in the computer system. Cash guests' personal checks and traveler's checks. Count bank at the beginning and end of shift. Balance and drop receipts according to Accounting specifications.

Qualifications and Skills

There are a range of qualifications, skills and characteristics we are looking for to successfully fill this role. These include:

  • Good level of English.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, spoken).
  • Flexible to work any shift including weekends, bank holidays and nights on occasions.
