Who are you?

As a Kickstart Assistant in Greenkeeping Operations, you will support the Greenkeeping Team to maintain the golf course(s) grounds and gardens of the hotel. You will build your knowledge on pest control, horticulture, weed control and relevant mowing techniques. As well as developing an understanding of the machinery used within the department and how it is maintained. You will learn the importance of maintaining tees, greens, fairways and rough.  Additionally, you will assist with moving tee markers, maintaining and raking bunkers, emptying bins within the hotel grounds and ensuring the hotel grounds and gardens are kept to an impeccable standard. 

As a Kickstart Team Member you don't need to have any prior experience but you do need to have the following qualities:

What will you do?

• Assist in maintaining tees, greens, fairways, and rough to ensure course meets required standard

• Perform general maintenance to all course areas, to an adequate standard, to maintain course condition.

• Undertake project work on designated area, for the improvement of the golf course.

• Complete Day to Day tasks looking after the golf courses

• Assist with the Mowing of fairways, Mowing Tees, Mowing Rough and Semi rough, Hand mowing, Raking Bunkers, Renovation Work, Irrigation Work.

• Monitor property grounds to ensure a pleasant appearance.

• Maintain lawns by mowing, edging, raking leaves, and performing other lawn maintenance functions.

• Support with the maintenance of flower beds etc by watering, removing weeds, trimming, and performing other maintenance.

• Remove and bag rubbish from all exterior rubbish bins.

• Maintain the appearance and safety of sidewalks, driveways, buggy/cart paths, or parking lots by filling in cracks, holes, and making other repairs.

• Comply with Marriott International Hotels Limited Regional Office policies and procedures at all times.

• Ensure all Marriott Policies on Key and all Controls are adhered to and followed consistently.

• Ensure uniform, nametags, and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional and in compliance with company policies and procedures.

• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets including protect the privacy and security of guests and coworkers.

• Maintain social distancing throughout the hotel, as per the guidelines from the government, wherever possible from colleagues and guests (distancing regulations will be in accordance with any government guidance).

• Wear all provided PPE instructed.

• Wash hands frequently or after each task following proper handwashing techniques.

• Sanitise hands on a regular basis during shifts

• Complete all Health & Safety and Marriott Compliance Training as required including (but not limited to) Fire, Manual Handling, COSHH, Commitment to Cleanliness, Electrical Safety, Disability Awareness and Brilliant Hosting.

What does success look like?

Success in this role will be specific to the individual but will typically include:

• Completion of the Kickstart Placement

• Completion of all training on your Personal Training/Development Plan

• Positive Performance during the Placement as measured by regular and end of placement reviews with your Line Manager/Supervisor

• Positive contribution to our business as measured by our Guest Voice / Guest Feedback
