Physiotherapist - Exeter - Part-time

The Role


You will see a wide range of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions and post operative cases, playing a key role in helping our patients achieve, maintain and recover to the level of health and wellbeing that they aspire to. The role is for a multipurpose physiotherapy practitioner to work both in an outpatient musculoskeletal setting and also in an inpatient ward setting. There is also an opportunity to run gym-based rehabilitation classes. This part-time 3-day per week role has a specific designation for work days; you will need to accept working on a Monday and Friday and the third day will be on either a Tuesday or Thursday of your choosing. The hours of work on a Monday and Friday will start from 07.00am.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team including nurses, other AHPs, administrators and consultants in order to optimise the health and recovery of our patients.

The hospital is brilliantly placed to support and mentor the successful candidate for this role, alongside our academy training programmes. As a new Band 6 equivalent Physiotherapist you will;

  • Deliver high quality, effective clinical care.

The Person
To succeed as a Physiotherapist you will;

  • Have a BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent, you'll be registered with the Health Care Professions Council, and be a professional member of the CSP. You will have a minimum of 1 year post-graduate work experience which will include time in an outpatient clinic and also an inpatient ward setting.

  • Demonstrate evidence of further professional training and continual professional development, reflecting your desire to develop as a practitioner within an orthopaedic and musculoskeletal role.

  • Be a confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with the general public and other healthcare professionals.

  • Be able to demonstrate manual therapy assessment and treatment skills.

  • Be a competent and confident IT user with strong organisation skills, be able to complete electronic clinical documentation and write insurance summary reports.

  • Be able to cope with assisting patients in discreet ward situations, including personal care.

  • Be part of the weekend ward physio rota, working a minimum of four full weekends per year, which may include some bank holiday days. Being flexible to offer extra ward cover at weekends depending on service demands.

  • Have the ability to prioritise and deal with your varied workload in an effective and timely manner.

Key Information

Salary - £dependent on experience, equivalent to new Band 6 in the NHS Agenda for Change pay scale.
Location - Exeter
Contract - Permanent, part-time
Weekly Hours - minimum of 8 hour day (24 hours/week), able to increase to 9 hours per day (27 hours/week)

 

NB: There is also the possibility of increasing the role to become full time (40 hours/week) with including home-based telephone triage, but this is not compulsory if wanting a part-time role.
