Head Porter - London

Salary: £22,400 - £24,720 per annum

In autumn 2021, we'll open the doors to Nuffield Health at St Bartholomew's Hospital: The City of London's only independent hospital, situated next to St Bartholomew's NHS hospital. This will be our flagship centre for cardiac services and will also provide a full range of surgical and medical services, including: orthopaedics, oncology, general surgery, and gynaecology and urology services.

The new hospital will consist of:

  • 48 inpatient and day case bedrooms

  • 28 consultation rooms

  • Three digital operating theatres

  • Cardiac catheterisation lab

  • Specialist intensive care beds

  • Oncology day unit

  • Endoscopy and minor ops theatre

  • Full diagnostic imaging suite including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography and general X-ray

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and committed individual to join our brand new team in our new London hospital. Responsible for patient movement & transport within the hospital and between departments such as imaging and theatres, you'll enjoy the chance to make a real difference with Nuffield Health. We'll expect you to actively contribute to the team and service development over the first few months of commissioning & to help prepare the hospital to open in 2021.

Once the hospital is operational, you will support Housekeeping & Porter Manager and along the way, you'll build strong relationships with hospital senior leaders, a wide range of healthcare professionals and, of course, patients. Working collaboratively alongside the rest of the team, you'll ensure patients benefit from the best possible services, equipment and care.

You will be responsible build and supervising the porters' team, ideally, you will have a minimum of 3 years of supervisor experience. You will be responsible for managing patient transfers across the site and will need to be flexible, committed and hardworking. You will also be responsible for managing waste, and oxygen services so some knowledge in this area is necessary. The role is one which covers 24 hrs/day so some shift work to include some nights and weekends may be required. Previous experience in a private healthcare environment would be useful, but on site training in the role can be provided.

We want you to be the best you can be. So we promise to support you with training, career development and our unique health and wellbeing focused benefits package. This includes free membership of your local Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Club, an annual health assessment, as well as a range of lifestyle and financial wellbeing benefits.
