The Newt in Somerset has ancient woodland, historic gardens and far reaching views.  It is a unique destination with Hotel, Spa, Restaurants and much more. Visitors can take a tour of the gardens, deer park and cyder press, dine in the Garden Café and visit our farm shop. In normal times we attract some 150,000 visitors per year, The Newt in Somerset is a vibrant and thriving attraction, animated throughout the seasons by special events, workshops and education programmes.

The Night host will work in achieving our vision to deliver a seamless guest journey from pre-arrival to post-stay communications and interactions. You will offer the most exceptional guest service possible and nurture a strong sense of pride in the products and services the estate provides. You will also be integral in ensuring a sense of community with colleagues in all parts of the estate

Position Summary
This is a role for a self-motivated, confident and personable individual with high attention to detail. The role involves being responsible for the overnight smooth running of the hotel operation. Ensuring all guest needs are looked after during the night and making sure safety and security standards are upheld.  The main part of the role is to be host to our guests from their arrival to the estate through to and beyond their departure.  There will be elements of support to the management and reception teams in the execution of their duties.  Ensuring the adherence of SOPS and company policy. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming and hosting guests 
  • Orientating guests around the estate with suggestions of areas of interest
  • Anticipating and supporting guest requests
  • Payment handling
  • Feedback Handling
  • Supporting all hotel department operations
  • Duty management
  • To have a full knowledge of the services and products that the estate offers
  • Ensure data is stored securely


Skills and Experience

  • Hotel night/duty management experience
  • Experience in the hospitality industry
  • Experience as a supervisor or shift leaderAble to deal with a vast variety of situations
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Time management and the ability to effectively prioritise workloads
  • Self-motivated with initiative and genuine interest in guest satisfaction
  • Problem solving skills and innovative thinking
  • Teamworking skills and enjoying working in a team environment
  • Microsoft office and Micros
