An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sports Centre Manager at Ashville Sports Centre.  The Centre is part of Ashville College (one of Harrogate’s leading independent schools), but is open to members of the public out of school hour; the Sports Centre Manager is responsible for managing the centre whilst it is being used by the public.

The Sports Centre currently has 650 members, with real ambitions to increase this.  Facilities include: two multi-purpose sports halls, tennis courts, squash courts, 30m swimming pool, artificial hockey pitch, climbing wall and a fitness suite; and there are plans to significantly enhance these over the next two years. The Centre currently offers a number of fitness classes, but is looking to expand the offering, and an ability to introduce and lead new classes is desirable.

Your job is to lead the Sports Centre team in delivering excellent customer satisfaction, whilst looking to improve the Centre’s bottom line.

You will demonstrate a complete understanding of all Sports Centre functions which includes the gym, personal training, tennis, group exercise and swimming. You will be an expert in understanding the needs and requirements of our members no matter what age or ability they are to ensure an exceptional member experience.

You will report to the management team of Ashville College, but will be given a great deal of autonomy in managing the Sports Centre on a day-to-day basis.

You'll take responsibility for all the equipment and you'll make sure that the Sports Centre is a safe environment for all users.  You'll manage your costs, as well as grow areas that bring revenue into the Centre. You'll recruit members of your team and be responsible for their line management and development.

You'll ideally have a Reps level 3 qualification (or equivalent) and will possess excellent communication skills. This post is full time and there will be a requirement to work at weekends, evenings and public holidays on a rota basis.
