Established in 1679 as a coaching inn, The King's Head in Chipping Ongar is the oldest brick-fronted building on Chipping Ongar High Street. Named after King James II, who is believed to have stayed here during his reign, this Grade II listed building is home to a traditional lounge area with open fire, comfortable bar, function room, and a 100-seat restaurant, complete with full-length open kitchen
Mediterranean cuisine has a big influence on our cooking, as do the fantastic ingredients sourced from local areas. In addition to an extensive, varied menu!
All our dishes are made on site using the freshest, highest-quality ingredients, whilst our suppliers are required to pass our sustainability criteria in order to supply our businesses.
Chefs at Oakman Inns and Restaurants have the opportunity to be innovative and creative with a daily specials menu. You will also love a little theatre, as all our kitchens are open to our restaurants, where we serve great fresh food all day long.
