About the role

Team ARU operate within the Estates & Facilities professional service at ARU and are responsible for the provision of Sport and Physical Activity for Students, Staff and members of the local community. As part of this provision we operate on-campus Sports Facilities including The Old Factory gym and Mildmay Sports Hall on our Chelmsford campus. This is an exciting role which prioritises ensuring our Sports Facilities in Chelmsford provide an excellent experience for users and continue to grow and develop, contributing to our University’s strategy for Sport. The Old Factory gym opened in 2020 and is an exciting new facility for the ARU community, we are looking for an experienced Supervisor to help drive the performance of the gym to allow it to compete commercially by attracting Students, Staff and members of the public against a variety of local competitors.  

With at least two A-Levels and a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, you’ll have demonstrable experience of working in a gym environment and of successfully supervising a team in a Sport/Fitness setting. As well as a passion for Health and Fitness, you’ll have clear customer focused approach with demonstrable experience of assisting to sell gym memberships. The ability to write and follow clear policies procedures around facility operations will be paramount alongside good IT skills, good communication and an ability to inspire and organise others on a daily basis.
