Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

Location: Field based

Role Purpose

We are looking for a Head of League Operations to manage the League Operations Team through driving sustainable profitability within the Powerplay business, managing the team to success, and ensuring the customer is delighted through every touch point of their journey. They will be responsible for meeting and exceeding sales targets/KPIs, managing the budget, coaching and inspiring their team of Regional and Senior League Managers, ensuring a consistent and brilliant delivery for our customers.

Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

Finance / Sales

  • To fully understand and drive the different business units to maximise all sales opportunities.
  • Take ownership of the business performance, effectively allocating resources and refining processes to drive overall profitability in a variety of situations and market conditions.
  • Use all available data to make commercial decisions based on sound analysis and financial judgment.
  • Support and coach Regional and Senior League Managers to increase their leagues profitability.
  • Understand the bigger picture and the relevant commercial requirements and act with agility when necessary.
  • Understand what costs are in your control and manage these effectively within budget, generating new ideas where PowerPlay can make additional savings and be more cost effective.

Customer

  • Understand the behaviour and patterns of your customer base, draw conclusions from this and coach the team to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Actively monitor customer satisfaction and feedback systems to drive continuous service improvement.
  • Create a service culture by ensuring all activities are centred on the customer.
  • Ensure a World Class customer experience is being delivered by challenging what you see; there is no place for silent approval.
  • Make full use of the tools available to coach the wider team and always be there to help, support and challenge when standards are not met in line with customer expectations.
  • Recognise and reward great behaviours to show our teams what fabulous looks like.
  • Be a role model giving great customer service and demonstrate empathy and understanding even in the most difficult of situations.

Operations

  • Prioritise and allocate the maximum possible time to effectively complete portfolio visits. Use the visits to develop and follow up on practical and achievable action plans derived from the visit reports.
  • Manage an effective, efficient, and stable environment across your portfolio, ensuring all company programmes, policies, procedures, initiatives and strategies are consistently implemented with the Operations team to seize real estate opportunities.
  • Create a high performance culture in all your venues by setting clear expectations and targets, analysing venues‘ performance, ensuring your team are fully accountable and giving appropriate and prompt feedback.
  • Ensure that the standards and operations compliance are followed in all venues.
  • Maximise the commercial potential.
  • Positively influence all business stakeholders by offering suggestions and ideas on ways to improve operations and processes.

People

  • Fully embrace the PowerPlay people strategy.
  • Lead the recruitment, on boarding, training and development efforts of Regional/Senior League Managers; actively managing the succession planning process and ensuring all HR policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Coach, motivate and inspire the team to accomplish league goals and maximize their individual performance, both face-to-face and remotely.
  • Actively collaborate and share best practices to drive performance.
  • Communicate a desire to learn and seize all available opportunities to drive your peoples’ development and increase performance.
  • Set goals, regularly reviewing results and supporting your team through performance management and the celebration of successes.
  • Hold employee engagement high on the agenda by recognising the differences in people and adapting your style to get the best out of them.

Business Development

  • Maintain an awareness of expansion opportunities within the business and report back as necessary.  This might include opportunities to build or refurbish pitches at nearby schools or sports centres, or opportunities to acquire local competitors.
