Bar Manager – Prairie Fire at The Wood Lane Arches, London

Reports to the Restaurant Manager

Prairie Fire at The Wood Lane Arches is a combined BBQ Restaurant and Craft Beer Tap Room (currently with 16 taps) located in two railway arches next to Westfield Shopping Centre.  We are a unique space which includes both an exterior “Beer Garden” and brick and railway inspired interior.  After opening in December of 2019 we’ve weathered the current pandemic and are eager and excited to once again begin welcoming customers back.  We’re a relatively high volume venue with space for about 50 covers offering fantastic beers along with a small selection of wines and cocktails.  The venue is open 7 days a week.

The Role

We are looking for a Bar Manager with a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role and experience.

Overseeing the day to day management of the bar. Responsible for a team of up to 10+ bar and floor staff. Ensuring an excellent level of customer service, staff productivity and driving sales on the bar.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day operations in the Taproom Arch
  • Cellar management and knowledge of beer/cellar operation
  • Stock management, stock takes, ordering, reporting.
  • Staff management and training, management of weekly rotas
  • Ensuring staff budgets are met
  • Management of ordering and deliveries
  • Health and Safety of staff and customers during operational hours
  • Daily and weekly reporting to senior management
  • Maintaining high standards of customer service and experience
  • Maintaining company values and staff morale
  • Overseeing floor operations including reception and back of house.

Experience & Requirements

  • 3 years bar management experience in a high volume bar/pub/restaurant essential
  • Personal Licence Holder
  • Knowledge of beer/cellar operation and passion for all things beer and bar related
  • Highly conscientious and motivated leader with a flexible approach, a ‘can do attitude’, lots of energy and a mind-set that will complement a demanding venue.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), persuading, negotiating and influencing skills
  • Responsible for planning own time appropriately to maximise business performance.
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent admin skills and extremely organised with great attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Packages.
