This position is a key contributor to the hotel's success - responsible for maintaining all 201 bedrooms, public areas including meeting rooms, bar, restaurant, back of house and staff areas to a high standard of decoration and presentation both reactively and proactively as well as communicating with linked departments to ensure any works scheduled are completed in an appropriate timeframe without affecting the guest experience.

Reporting directly to the Facility Manager you will be fully conversant in one or more aspects of maintenance from plumbing, electrical, carpentry, decoration and general repairs and familiar with the others. You will need fantastic
communication skills and a good level of English.

The role includes working within a small but very strong team of 5 maintenance staff who, between them,
cover a shift pattern from 0630 and 2100) as well as approximately 1 in 4 weekends. As the role predominantly includes working within our bedrooms and public areas, a clean smart appearance is a must for this role and must be shown at interview stage.

The ideal applicant will also have:

  • Ability to demonstrate practical experience in dealing with general maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines and respond well to pressure
  • Quick learner
  • Qualified tradesman e.g. electrician, carpenter, plumber, painter and decorator
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices,
  • Confident and courteous manner
  • Determined solution seeker
  • Customer focused “No Problem” mentality
  • Working experience in a customer service environment
  • Good basic education
