You will play a key role in Asda's strategy to save customers money whilst driving commercial growth.

Working closely with the trading and pricing teams to understand and influence the consequences of Asda's pricing and promotional strategy. Our goal is to provide value to customers where they want it AND generate profitable sales for the business.

You will own and analyse the performance of our promotions and price investment, handling big data to understand how particular products perform depending on the level of discount given, location in-store and competitor activity. You'll make recommendations that influence future promotions and pricing decisions and you'll see the results of your work land in store.

You'll have the opportunity to create advanced analytics and tools that enable the business to understand the impact of pricing decisions and how they are contributing to business performance. In addition, you'll be able to work with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to influence decision making.

Your Role

The vacancy is a commercial finance manager position based at Asda head office in Leeds, reporting to the Senior Commercial Finance Manager for Fresh Food. The role has accountability for all of Food and General Merchandise Pricing and Promotional Reporting and Analytics.

You will provide a true business Partnering solution to the Pricing Team and Commercial Transformation team whilst engaging all stakeholders in finance and trading teams. You will be expected to use your analytical skills, judgement and broader business network to understand trading performance, giving visibility of the right issues at the right time, stimulating strategic decision making, improving business performance and driving financial discipline.

Track price & promotional investment, measure ROI and make recommendations based on the data to drive commercial performance and utilise data visualisation tools to interpret trends within financial data, providing insight into weekly and monthly performance reviews and strengthen performance management and measurement against plan, forecast and YoY.

In summary, this is a commercial and analytical role where you will require strong influencing and networking skills to work with all levels of the Trading and Finance teams. It's a great opportunity for a colleague with lots of drive to develop their Asda career in a high profile role.

About You 

• You will be a qualified accountant either ACA, CIMA, ACCA or MBA
• You will have a confident and pro-active approach, with an inquisitive nature and the attention to detail required to spot and analyse trends along with the ability to interpret the impact on commercial performance
• You must have demonstrable analytical and data visualisation skills and experience managing big data sets, ideally having built reporting and analytics in Power BI or Tableau
