Payroll Manager - Huddersfield

Working as part of an 'excellent customer focussed team' your primary aim is the delivery of an efficient, accurate and proactive Payroll service (c.£8m) for our 700+ employees. You will be counted on to provide an exceptional level of customer service at all times to each of our customers whether internal or external, whilst adhering to strict deadlines, representing the KAL brand and our values of One Team, Excellence and Passion.
To be successful in the role of Payroll Manager, you must have extensive knowledge of payroll systems and all associated administration processes both paper and electronic.
You will have a keen eye for detail and getting things right first time. The Payroll Manager will also be responsible for quality checking task completion monitoring, investigating any discrepancies whilst maintaining excellent customer service and be an advocate for continuous improvement. You will provide support on resolving queries from employees.
Key areas of focus will include working with the Finance Team to manage any salary overpayments which occur. The ability to deal with these in a compassionate manner taking into account each staff members' circumstances will be essential in order to ensure that a resolution is agreed as soon as possible.
In addition, you will support the continual development of the Payroll system with our external payroll provider whilst ensuring that the KAL Payroll is operated within the context of our Service Level Agreement (SLA).
You will have the professional acumen to provide excellent correspondence which will be seen externally to KAL. You will have a positive, caring attitude, ensuring that the Payroll Team is a choice of 'somewhere to go' for both staff and managers alike.
You will have experienced line management responsibility and be able to deal with performance issues, implementation of change and keeping a busy team motivated.
Working closely with all departments, you will assist managers with the understanding and implementation of Payroll policies, procedures and KAL terms and conditions of employment.
The ability to deal with a broad spectrum of people is essential in this role. You must have the ability to deal with a broad spectrum of people of different experiences and abilities and you will need to adapt your style accordingly. Effective communication skills are therefore paramount for this role.?
