The Restaurant Group Plc (TRG) is a significant player in the UK casual dining market, operating over 400 restaurants and pubs which include Frankie and Benny's, Wagamama, Chiquito, and Brunning & Price pubs.  We also operate a concession business, which trades in many of the UK airports.

This is an exciting time for TRG - as well as recent changes and innovation to develop our offering and customer experience in our established, iconic brands such as Frankie and Benny's, we are also pursuing other growth opportunities within the dining sector, exploiting online brands, delivery, click and collect and grab and go.

 

Purpose

As a Project Manager within the Change function, your role is to support the business through the delivery of successful projects, ensuring that each project's objectives are realised and that the project team works effectively.

You will lead the planning process, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that your projects are completed on time, within budget and managed within the PMO framework.   

 

Accountabilities

  • Works within the established PMO framework to deliver multiple projects, often across the different TRG divisions
  • Applies established project management principles and processes to smoothly deliver successful projects: (to include project planning, leading and motivating the project team, project tracking and reporting, resource and task allocation, risk and issue identification and tracking)

PROJECT INITIATION AND PLANNING

  • Creates and documents clear project briefs, plans, milestones, scope and resource requirements.
  • Clarifies requirements and agrees clear success criteria and measurement protocols.
  • Provides cost and time estimates.
  • Assesses resource requirements and skill sets required to meet project goals.

PROJECT EXECUTION

  • Tracks project progress against project plans and adjusts plans, where necessary, to ensure effective completion in line with success criteria.
  • Reports on the status of projects.
  • Drives issue resolution through appropriate issue and risk tracking and facilitating issue closure. Escalates appropriately.
  • Tracks costs and maintains project budgets.
  • Coordinates requests for change to key project metrics, e.g. scope, cost or resource requirements.
  • Maintains an understanding of other technology and/or business change initiatives outside of the current in-flight projects, to ensure alignment and integration.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RELATIONSHIPS

  • Builds relationships with the key stakeholders for each project, be that internal or external, confirming requirements and proactively reporting project progress
  • Manages stakeholder expectations, focusing on realising target business benefits for internal sponsors.
  • Supervises and monitors the deliverables of project team members and suppliers to ensure on-time, on spec delivery.

 

Skills and experience

  • Good knowledge of business systems in a commercial environment
  • Proven project management experience, ideally backed up with recognised standards-based qualifications
  • ideally from a multi-site retail and/or hospitality background
  • Good knowledge of business systems in a commercial environment
  • Ability to tailor and apply best practice project management processes and tools to deliver your work
  • A track record in a demanding, fast-moving environment. Used to working across complex projects as well as running multiple workstreams
  • Clear verbal and written communications. Adept at producing simple plans, roadmaps and status updates
  • Excellent people management skills, able to motivate and coordinate a diverse project team, including external suppliers
  • Good knowledge of business systems in a commercial environment, ideally from a retail and/or hospitality background.
