Distribution Centre Supervisor – Earlsfield, SW London 

Bayley & Sage is growing, and we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor to join our Distribution Centre team in South West London. 

About the role 

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising the Distribution Centre (DC), acting as first point of contact for all queries and issues as well as deputising for our DC Manager when they are away on leave. You will be managing the team of Drivers and DC Assistants on a daily basis including overseeing any training requirements and developing the team. The ultimate purpose of this role is to support the DC Manager to ensure the smooth running of the DC and to promote a culture, within the DC team, of polite and professional interaction with all suppliers and Bayley & Sage staff. 

Key responsibilities  

  • Data entry into SAGE to prepare invoices; maintain and update the database 
  • Coordinate all orders and SPLITS maintaining an efficient stock control system 
  • Ensure correct storage and stock rotation takes place (FIFO) and ensure wastage procedures are followed and maintained 
  • Checking delivery logs and that items for despatch are labelled and packed correctly 
  • Oversee deliveries into DC and deal with any inconsistencies or missing items immediately

  • Support DC Manager with scheduling and inputting any lateness or sickness into the HR system 
  • Take responsibility for the company vehicles - this will mostly include ensuring logs are completed correctly and performing scheduled vehicle inspections stipulated by the DC Manager.  
  • Organise servicing as required 
  • Escalate any issues to the DC Manager  
  • Ensure thorough cleaning schedule is carried out and correct procedure is followed at all times throughout DC 
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive inventory 
  • Work to the highest standards of quality and customer care at all times 
  • Ensure that the DC is secure at all times and that the DC’s staff follow company guidelines with regard to any suspicious behaviour they may encounter 

  About you 

You will be a hard worker, willing to roll your sleeves up and get on with the job at hand.  You are looking for a long-term position. You will be physically capable as heavy lifting and operating machinery is involved in the day to day role. Previous experience in a warehouse/distribution role is not essential but you will be IT literate including a high level of competency on Excel. You’re a fast learner who is spatially aware.  You have a respectful manner, and you are a supportive manager but you are equally assertive and able to push back to the team.
