Job description:

About You

First and foremost, you will be a qualified Green Keeper with demonstrable experience of working on golf courses.

This role will see you lead a small team of 2 green keepers and take responsibility for the upkeep of all aspects of the golf course.

You will be customer facing, so strong customer service skills are essential, along with a friendly and approachable demeanour, and the confidence to be an ambassador for West Lancashire Leisure Trust and the Golf Course. You will lead by example and hold the team to high standards in this area.

You will carry out effective turf maintenance through the establishment of schedules and programmes of daily, weekly, monthly and annual maintenance, identify and control weeds and pests, marking hazards including out of bounds and areas under repair, and moving tee markers and maintaining bunkers.

In addition to this, you will be expected to aerate and irrigate turf, applying nutrition and top dressing, regular mowing of banks, rough and semi-rough, tees, greens and fairways, and ensure that all machinery is maintained, reporting any faults through the relevant channels and making sure it is stored appropriately.

As this role is a supervisory position, you should have a good understanding of health and safety and security in the workplace and be a clear communicator at all levels.

Preferred qualifications include NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline, PA1, PA & PA6 Spraying certificates, knowledge of turf machinery and a full UK driving licence. If you have chainsaw certificates this would be a great advantage.
