About the Role

Following the investment announced at North East Clothing, with the forthcoming installation of a dotcom fulfilment operation to support this growing area of the business, we are pleased to be opening some further management positions to support both the retail and dotcom operations. The retail operation will continue to service the retail stores as well as the dotcom operation, whilst operating in a reduced footprint. The dotcom operation shall be totally new to site and require real flexibility to deal with the fast paced nature of the operation. These roles could be for either the retail or dotcom operation and there will be a requirement to flex between the operations as well.

The role and you:

The Department Manager has overall accountability for the leadership and implementation of the plan for the department. Delivering the department KRAs and operating standards underpinned by the compliance and people plan.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Being obsessed about our purpose and our customers in line with charter and plans in place to deal with volumes ensuring we serve customers better than anyone else
  • Deliver all key commercial targets through executing and implementing the commercial agenda through the team of colleagues
  • Work in partnership with the HR team to deliver the people plan for your department, equipping and encouraging your team to perform at their best
  • Drive a high performance culture, developing our colleagues so they have the skills and the confidence to do the right thing for your department
  • Engage your colleagues to be proud of, the depot, ensuring that you always start with the why to allow colleagues to connect and make it real
  • Lead the department compliance agenda and address any appropriate action plans
  • Embrace inclusivity, developing a diverse team
  • Develop future talent by mentoring potential leaders, and sponsor development through the You Can Be programme to deliver local resource plans
  • Utilises MI / data to identify trends and patterns of concern or opportunity, using this proactively to make sure that the resources are invested where it matters the most to our colleagues
  • Spot issues or opportunities and work with the Operating Model team to bring about change quickly, through our colleagues involvement
  • Invest your resources where it matters most; really considering how to prioritise your time, your colleagues and resources
  • Be a role model to the Leading Asda qualities, so that every colleague knows who you are and what you stand for
  • Build a business that makes you proud, working collaboratively within the collective groups within your department
  • Engage with HRSS to ensuring that the colleague journey is implemented

 

You'll need:

 

  • The ability to hold team to account and drive a high performance culture
  • The skills to influence within your colleagues and senior teams
  • A mind-set, of being a continuous learner
  • Approachable and able to flex communication styles with your audience
  • The ability to manage and positively lead change
  • Good listening skills, and an appetite to act on what you hear
  • The capacity to be forward thinking and open to doing things differently

For Internal applicants you'll need:

A management appraisal grade 3 or above preferably either in an existing D Grade role or already on development to D Grade, Top Talent, Apprentice Programme
