The Elsinore Inn is a traditional community pub at the heart of Whitby, North Yorkshire. The pub welcomes its customers into an open plan trading area that has a feel that typifies what Whitby is all about. With its oak panels, cask marque ales, sea faring traditions and blue collar industry heritage it's truly a home from home for locals. The pub is infamous for its entertainment offer including live music that brings the pub to life, making it the place to be on a Saturday night.

The pub is incredibly unique for being a hub for the goth scene, with it being a crucial part of the Whitby Goth Weekend for the past 26 years. The first ever 'Gothic meet up' originated at the pub and brings tens of thousands to the area annually, all of these people hold the pub close to their hearts.


We have exciting investment plans to give the pub internal and external redecoration that will enhance the pubs current traditional, homely feel.

The pub is ideally situated in Whitby Town centre, in the bustling Flowergate area, one of the oldest and most historic streets in the town. Whitby is a beautiful seaside town with tourists visiting from far and wide to enjoy its stunning beaches, scenic coastal walks, and gothic history, with the ruined Gothic Whitby Abbey that is iconic for being Bram Stoker's inspiration for Dracula.

This opportunity will suit an experienced Publican or couple who want to operate at the heart of the community and cement themselves into Whitby culture. It would also be perfect for somebody who has a passion for live entertainment and is even part of a music or folk scene.

About the Agreement

Our Tenancy agreements vary between 3 - 5 years offer a flexible approach to running your own pub business. Your pub will be ready to trade, with carefully tailored food and drinks menus in place which you can evolve as you go along.

You will receive a high level of support and everything you need to run a successful business. From the beginning, you will have dedicated Operations Manager, plus access to training and development, business planning, operations and accounting expertise.

Once you've completed the 5-day induction course we'll provide you with ongoing support to help you maximise the efficiency, sales and profitability of your pub. This includes helping you decide on the right drinks offer, guidance on margin and support creating a marketing plan to build for continued success. To help market your pub, we also offer lots of support and advice. Punch Tenancy agreements have shared repairs liability, we will help you manage your ongoing repairing obligations. We do this by operating a repairs and maintenance fund for all new agreements.

* The calculation of the initial Ingoing Costs assumes a minimum deposit (3,000 or 6,000) plus legal fees. The subsequent deposit build up (if any) will need to be paid over 52 weeks. This can be discussed with the recruitment team or Operations Manager.
