This exciting new development comprising of 195-bed Aloft hotel and 1,200 seater conference venue in the heart of a major regeneration project in Birmingham’s Eastside is due to open spring 2020.

The development forms part of Birmingham’s Big City Plan – a 20-year city centre masterplan which aims to transform the Eastside area into a thriving business, leisure, cultural and learning destination.

The hotel is set to house a 120 seater restaurant ‘Tempo!’, a cocktail bar ‘W xyz’ and a fully equipped gym. Whilst the conference venue will include the ‘Affinity Suite’ spanning more than 880 sqm and accommodating 800 people for banqueting, 1,200 theatre style and 500 cabaret style. Two flexible meeting spaces will also be available, accommodating up to 270 people theatre style, as well as a further 13 meeting rooms and two dedicated executive boardrooms for up to 10.

The Role:

As Sales Researcher you will be proactive in supporting the sales team and have a passion for sales. You will carry out projects and generate leads resulting in revenue growth within the business and support the delivery of the commercial strategy. You will research businesses within the local area to generate appointments and identify any new sales opportunities. You will be an integral part of the sales team and will be driven to achieve results.

Job Purpose:

  • Identify any new leads and contacts working with the front of house teams in driving engagement in Interstate initiatives for lead generation.
  • Responding to sales opportunities to drive revenue growth.
  • Research accounts from the proactive sales team, following up on any leads from account lists.
  • Ensuring all leads are fully qualified before being passed across to the sales team.
  • Conduct sales lead calls to potential new accounts and clients.
  • Ensure all sales databases are kept accurate and up to date.
  • Research and gather contact information for current and potential new accounts to be presented to the sales team when required.
  • Support the sales & marketing team, performing general office duties and administrative tasks where needed.
  • Work with Sales and Events teams to help convert business and action chases. Take part in team conversion days when required.
  • Monitor local business news and social media accounts to identify new opportunities.
  • Keep up to date records of competitor information and set up internet sites to allow regular updates, such as Google alerts.
  • Prepare weekly/ monthly reports as required.

Competencies and skills required:

  • Previous experience working within a Sales department or a hotel environment
  • Commitment to delivering a high level of customer service
  • Confident telephone manner
  • Strong IT skills
  • Excellent grooming standards
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to respond and thrive within a constantly changing organisation.
  • Good organisational and administration skills
  • Ability to stay focused and self-motivated, able to prioritise, work under pressure, manage multiple projects at one time and meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and good communication skills
  • A willingness to travel throughout the UK
  • Able to work within the UK
