Job location

For this position we are looking for someone based anywhere within a geographical area 30 miles to the West, South or East of Birmingham. (for example - Shrewsbury, Worcester, Rugby, Leamington Spa would all be fine). 

About the opportunity... Our shops are the beating heart of our business. It's crucial that we keep them in tip top condition to ensure we can continue to provide a fantastic experience for our customers.  This is where our Shop Maintenance team come in!

From carrying out building repairs, to maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, our teams turn their hands to anything!   As such, the role is very varied, and as our teams cover wide geographical areas, you'll meet different shop teams every day and support them to keep things running smoothly in their part of the Greggs estate.

To make sure we're ready for the growth that we have planned (100 new shops a year!), we are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to support some fledgling Shop Maintenance Operatives develop the skills necessary to do the role by working with Selby College to deliver Apprenticeships in Property Maintenance.

The programme is a year in duration (commencing January 2020), and will involve working alongside one of our experienced Shop Maintenance Engineers, as well as spending 3 blocks of 3 weeks attending Selby College, in North Yorkshire - all paid for by Greggs!

 

Salary

£16,500 during Apprentice year.

Shift Pattern and Contracted Hours

Full time, working 39 hours a week.  This will be Monday to Friday during the Apprentice year,

Skills The successful applicants must: -

    have Level 1 English and Maths (equivalent to GCSEs minimum Grade E or 2) hold a full driving licence be dedicated to completing a qualification be willing to travel be able to commit to attending block training weeks at Selby College starting from January 2020 have a flexible attitude work independently and as part of a team have the ability to comply with company policies and procedures be enthusiastic have an aptitude for problem solving communicate effectively either verbally or in writing be able to perform under pressure

    We'll pay for you to gain a recognised qualification. Guaranteed position upon successful completion, providing you meet your objectives.
