Play Worker - SuperCamps Putney, London

SuperCamps are one of the leading providers of school holiday childcare and activity camps, operating at over 60 venues nationwide. SuperClubs is the operating name for their wraparound care provision. Reporting to the SuperClubs Manager and working closely with the wider SuperCamps team, the SuperClubs Play Worker is responsible for the delivery of safe, creative, appropriate activities and general welfare located at Akeley Wood Junior School. 

SuperCamps is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and an expectation of this role is to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment background checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. Appointment is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and two satisfactory references. 

Duties of the role include: 

  • Supporting with the safe arrival of children at the club and the safe delivery to carers at the end of each day
  • Delivery and active engagement of safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities in a fun and caring environment
  • Keeping children safe and minimizing risks in the play environment
  • Preparing and serving snacks/refreshments to the children ensuring that hygiene, health and safety measures are met. 
  • Administering first aid as appropriate
  • Being responsible for setting up the room, including moving furniture, and tidying the club rooms at the end of the day 
  • Liaising with parents and involving them in the SuperClubs experience
  • Working within agreed policies and procedures, being aware of staff responsibilities around the Safeguarding of children in our care.

Person specification:

  • Experience or working with 4 – 12 year old children in a play environment, and understanding their needs.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • An appropriate qualification in Childcare or Play work at NVQ Level 3 or the equivalent is desirable but not essential
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training is essential. The role includes supervising the children, ensuring their safety at all times, engaging with them in aspects of play and conversation, set up activities for children to optionally take part in, meet and greet parents and provide them with feedback on their child’s time at SuperClubs

Hours per week during term time - Monday to Friday:

Breakfast Club: 7:00- 9:00 (Operating Times: 7.30 – 8.30) - mornings are optional  

After school care: 14:30-18:15 (Operating Times: 15.00 – 18.00) 

Additional weekend work in the lead up to holidays, paid in addition.

During school holidays Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm delivering the SuperCamps operation.
