Stores & Goods Receiving Assistant - St Pancras, London

Opened in July 2019, The Standard, London has boldly propelled The Standard brand onto the international stage. Situated on Euston Road across from the gothic grandeur of St Pancras Station, the hotel is set to become a new cultural crossroad for London and a gateway to Europe. The hotel playfully respects the building's history while creating new expansive spaces for the neighbourhood to play from our bars, lounges and restaurants throughout the building to the 266 rooms and suites.

At the heart of our hotels are of course of people who through their vibrancy and energy bring our properties to life. We are now seeking a team of diverse and dynamic individuals that will capture the very essence of the Standard London to join our team as a Stores & Goods Receiving Assistant.

Your role

As a Stores & Goods Receiving Assistant at the Standard London you will become part of a specialised purchasing team that provides a dedicated procurement service for the hotel and our collection of our F&B outlets which include high-volume all-day dining, late night lounge, busy cocktail bar and grill, garden and roof terraces, plus our exclusive destination restaurant on our top floor.

You will work closely both the purchasing and back of house managers and be responsible for coordinating orders, receiving delivers and distributing goods on behalf of our departmental teams to ensure that par stock levels are maintained across the business. With a meticulous eye for detail you never miss a thing, ensuring that par stock levels are maintained within the general store and that deliveries are inspected, meet standards and that all food safety controls are managed. As a guardian of our general stores you’ll be responsible for implementing a host of stock and rotation control measures and play a pivotal role in the monthly stocktake and management of our inventory; that is far from anything but Standard!

Most importantly you will ensure you and your team adopt a flexible and hands-on approach with superior communication and negotiation skills to manage a host of supplier relationships on behalf of the business. So it goes without saying that you will need to be highly social, upbeat and friendly; confident and can handle pressure well; thrive in a high volume, high energy environment and can manage relationships both suppliers and your colleagues with ease.

Do you have what it takes to be a Stores & Goods Receiving Assistant at the Standard.

While we take every detail of design and guest experience seriously, we do not take ourselves too seriously. ‘Standard People’ are at the heart of our brand; vivid, dynamic and engaging. You’ll intrinsically understand the unique microcosm and the context of our venues and city you represent.

While prior experience as a Stores & Goods Receiving Assistant will always be useful all are welcome at The Standard so your background may be less conventional; you will have an uncompromised and natural flair for negotiating a deal and be able to build genuine relationships with our suppliers. In addition to this you will also need….

  • A proven track record in a similar Purchasing, Stores, Goods Receiving or Distribution role, ideally gained in a similar ‘Lifestyle’ multi-site restaurant or multi-outlet hotel sector

  • An exceptional knowledge or Food & Drink products combined with a good understanding of stock control procedures.

  • Trained to a minimum of Food Safety Level 2 with a good understanding of HACCP and maintaining temperature control checks.

  • Highly motivated and pro-active; act with professionalism and positivity in all interactions

  • Have exceptional administration and organisation skills with great attention to detail combined with a natural ability and passion for Purchasing.

  • Opening experience preferred

We are defined by our richness of personality and diversity of background and lifestyle so if you think you have what it takes to be our Stores & Goods Receiving Assistant, we’d love to meet with you at our forthcoming open days.
