We're seeking a Bar Manager position to join the Strand Palace team. This opportunity comes at an exciting time for the hotel. Your input will have a direct impact the business as we are undergoing a multi-million-pound investment in readiness for the 2020s.

Our hotel 

Strand Palace has welcomed guests since 1905. Our journey has been very special and there is no stopping us. All 785 guestrooms are being refurbished and they feature a modern art deco style, providing a fresh and utilitarian aesthetic.

Work has just been completed in the hotel's public areas including a new restaurant and bar Haxells, in a modern and contemporary style. The hotel attracts a wide demographic, across all ages, for both leisure and business travel, from a variety of domestic and international markets.

The team at the Strand Palace is also very diverse. From new comers making their way to the industry to some of the most experienced professionals in London. The ideal candidate

  • Bar Management and/or Resturant Management experience essential, Hotel Bar experience desirable
  • Good knowledge of Bar operations, with high level of knowledge surrounding spirits, cocktail making and service standards 
  • Strong understanding of business management 
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and customer services skills, with the ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts 
  • Willingness to work during peak hours including nights, weekends and holidays 
  • Effective in delegating responsibilities and maximising resoucres 
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with good time management skills 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest levels of customer service throughout the Bar, ensuring this is reflected in the standard of service given to the Hotel's guests and visitors
  • Ensure guest satisfaction is consistently delivered to a high standard, and that any comments/complaints and guest issues are dealt with effectively and in a timely manner
  • Ensure staffing levels are sufficient and meet with the business levels of the budget, in addition to affectively managing the department's payroll and participating in recrutiment stages where necessary 
  • Create an environment that promotes strong team moral and encourages effective team work, ensuring that employees feel supported 
  • Leading on Department specific training for staff, to ensure employees consistently provide excellent service and products to guests
  • Creating effective schedules, and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that the bar is well staffed during peak hours
  • Assisting in the development of new products, cocktails and drinks, according to the seasonal trends, sales trend and needs of the business 
  • Developing, executing and partaking in promotional events within the bar and across F&B Division 
  • Diffusing tense situations between guest and/or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues
  • Maintaing a fun, safe atmosphere for guests and employees
