About the role:

Signature is looking for a Sous Chef to be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of food preparation and working practices ensuring residents food is served to the highest possible standards. Your success will grow with your experience of creating high quality, varied menus that look and taste delicious, whilst maintaining budgetary control - along with the ability to build a strong team spirit in the kitchen.

 Specific duties and responsibilities are, but not limited to;

  • You will help support the Head Chef and Restaurant manager to manage and deliver all catering functions within the Signature care home, guaranteeing that resident choice, happiness and dignity are maintained.
  • Preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food.  Ensuring all areas/work stations are clean and tidy whilst adhering to Health and Safety policies. 
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the Menu ensuring cost effective services are provided for residents.
  • Making sure dietary and nutritional needs are met for all in our care, enabling yourselves a chance to develop your knowledge of particular food requirements.
  • Support cost-effective stock control systems to minimise waste and ensure these are in place.


About you:

 We are looking for someone with the following attributes: 

  • Ability to organize and prioritise workload, and work under pressure
  • Ability to communicate and manage interpersonal relationships, including influencing skills.
  • Energetic, passionate and proactive attitude
  • IT Literacy
  • At least five years’ experience in a busy kitchen
  • Appropriate supervisory experience and relevant qualifications pertaining to the safe delivery of Food & Hygiene or Catering Services. NVQ Level 2 or 3.
  • Awareness of COSHH and CQC regulations.
